Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Oriana:

“Today, we have a math test.” Mr. Calligen told us.

Everybody groaned, except for me. Math was my favorite subject in school. I turned my head to the right. The wolves looked bored, including…

“Shadow!” Mr. Calligen shouted someone’s name. “Are you with us?”

When the guy I met looked up and nodded to the teacher, I finally got to know his name without asking.

“Now, once you get this test, you can begin.”

As soon as he handed me the packet, I began writing. I was the A student in that class. Homework was my favorite thing to do. Once everybody started, I was the first one to finish. I got up from my desk and walked over to Mr. Calligen with my finished paper. I handed it to him and he looked at it, nodding his head.

“Finished and correct as usual, Ms. Daniels.” He said, putting the paper to the side.

“Thank you.” I told him.

I turned around and walked back to my desk. Once I sat down, I turned my attention to Shadow. He was still doing his test, but he must’ve felt my eyes on him because he stopped and he turned his head and eyes in my direction. I gave him a smile before I looked somewhere else.

“As usual.” I heard someone say.

Shadow slammed his pencil down before he got up with his paper and walked to the front. Mr. Calligen took it and looked over it. Then, he nodded his head and put the paper down.

“Are we allowed to leave?” Shadow asked.

“Yes.”

“We are?” I asked.

Mr. Calligen and Shadow turned to me.

“Yes.” Mr. Calligen told me. “But, shouldn’t you wait for Tiana?”

“Her master.” The female wolf stated.

Everybody in the class laughed. Tiana wasn’t my Master. She was a Guardian for us due to the incident with the murders.

“I was just going to the library.” I told him.

“I understand, but she instructed that you stay here and wait for her. But, I will contact her and let her know you are finished.”

I nodded, then I looked at Shadow. He walked over to his desk and grabbed his bag. Then, he walked off.

Tiana didn’t come to get me until class ended. Everybody was gone, except for me and it frustrated me. I wanted to go out like normal people did. It was already embarrassing. Then that fucking bitch had the nerve to tease me about it. Ugh!

“I’m sorry.” Tiana said as we walked towards the dorm.

My eyes shifted to the wolves, who were laughing and having fun. Shadow was amongst them, enjoying himself. Why weren’t the girls like them?

“It’s okay.” I told her.

Tiana stopped me and I turned to her.

“What’s wrong?”

“Why don’t we go out? Everybody else is enjoying their school life, but us.”

“We do.”

“Not all the time.”

“Look, I understand we’re not as cool as everybody else, but I need to make sure of your safety. The principal gave me this job for that reason. I’m sorry if I keep you guys safe.”

I sighed and nodded.

“I’d rather be safe, but I would like to have some fun as well.”

“It also got you focused on school. I heard you and another student scored high in the classroom. Congratulations.”

I smiled.

“Who was the other student?”

Tiana rolled her eyes and we both looked over at the wolves. Shadow and his pack were already looking over at us.

“Tiana.” Shadow said her name.

“Congratulations on passing the test.” She told him. “I see some of us like to study hard.”

“Thank you.” Shadow told her, then he looked at me. “Did you pass?”

“Yes, I did.” I told him.

“As usual.” The same girl from before.

“Stop.” Shadow looked at her. “Congrats is in order.”

I smiled and looked away.

“Hey, so are we going or not?” A male wolf asked Shadow.

Tiana put a her arm around my shoulder and pulled me along. Once we were away from them, I decided to ask her what I wanted to.

“Where are they going?” I asked.

“To a party.” Tiana told me. “And no, we are not going.”

I sighed.

“After lunch, we have P.E. So get ready.”

Tiana and I went to go get the other girls and we all headed over for lunch.

2 hours later:

“Oh my god!” I shrieked. “My legs are hurting!”

“I hate fucking P.E.” Jessica stated.

“Yeah.” Naomi told her. “It’s not a fun subject.”

“Clean up and then, we’re going to go out.”

“Where to?” I asked.

“Dinner.”

The girls started chattering and Tiana chuckled.

“I wanted to treat you ladies out for passing your tests.” Tiana explained. “Plus, I’m sure some of you guys want to get out.”

“We do.” Jessica replied.

“Then, hurry up so we can go.”

The girls and I rushed and got prepared for the evening. A dinner sounded really good and I couldn’t wait to eat anything that was not from the school cafeteria. Tiana looked nervous as we all got ready to leave. I looked towards the window and saw that it was beginning to get dark.

“What about the guards?” I asked Tiana. “Will they be able to come with us?”

“This is so sudden that I was never able to ask.” Tiana told us.

We just stared at her and I sighed.

“Maybe we should eat in.” I told her.

“We’ll be fine.” Tiana told them.

I wished there was a way we could go out.

“Yeah, let’s just stay in.” Jessica sighed. “Maybe we can go early tomorrow?”

The girls all agreed.

“We could order food in, can’t we?” I asked.

“Yes.” Tiana told us. “How about a vegetarian pizza from Night Pizza?”

“That sounds good.” Naomi responded.

We all decided it was best to just stay in. As it was getting dark, it was going to get dangerous and we weren’t trying to risk our lives like that. They still never found out who killed those four deer in the woods. All we knew was that they were wolves. And of course, people suspected Shadow and his pack the culprit. That’s why I was trying to keep my distance. However, wherever I went, he was there. And his crimson colored eyes were always on mine.
