Chapter 4 The Escape

Chapter 4 The Escape

Two days later

"What are we doing Avery?" Hazel was anxious. "Calm down Hazel or you will ruin this plan," Avery said.

"All you have to do is pretend like you have fainted. Once the men are drawn to this place, I will use pepper spray on their eyes and lock the door on them!"Avery sounded excited.

"But you can't do that. You will hurt the men. Let's look for another way please" Hazel wasn't feeling good at all with the turn of events but at the same time, she didn't want to hurt anyone in the process.

"Why are you feeling sorry for them? That brute just forced you to sign a contract Marriage with him because that pathetic monster killed his brother. I don't see your fault in all these" Avery huffed.

"He just lost his brother and people close to him. Understand how he would feel too" Hazel didn't know why she was defending him to her best friend. She had seen something in him that she couldn't decipher.

Maybe he was just ruthless because he had lost his whole family. "Whatever you say but we are leaving here right away! There is a chance for us to escape now. How can we know if we don't try? Plus, it's just pepper spray. It can't hurt them for too long" Avery explained.

"What if we get caught?" Hazel weighed their options well. "They don't know my aunt's place. No one would believe that you are there. Just relax. You are getting alarmed"

Hazel sighed. "Alright, but you won't use too much. I'll do it" she succumbed to Avery's demands. "That's my girl." Avery beamed and moved closer to the window.

They had packed most of her things to her house under the watchful eyes of Alessandro's men. In fact, they had been the ones that transported them to and fro.

"Somebody help! Help me, somebody! Hazel has fainted" Avery raised an alarm that alerted the men downstairs. They hurried up the staircase immediately. Their boss had told them that nothing must happen to Hazel.

"What happened?" One of them said as they came rushing in.

Avery opened the door and made sure that they all entered before she reached for the spray and used it on them. "You bitch! What the hell!" One of them cursed while the others groaned and rubbed their eyes together in pain.

"Let us go now!" Avery pulled Hazel up and they hurried out. One of the men tried to get a hold of Avery, however, she kicked him and slammed the door in his face.

"That was too much Avery. You said you wouldn't hurt them" Hazel complained. "He almost caught me. What was I to do?" Avery sighed and they hurried down the stairs onto the street.

It was dark but they would get to her house soon once they got out of the street, they would hail a cab for her place. She would have suggested they go to her aunt's place tonight but putting Hazel under too much pressure might hurt the baby so her house it was.

Avery looked at Hazel. She looked so stressed. She had been having issues with her sleep these past few days. Avery wondered how she would cope in a country far away from here.

Alessandro had said they would leave tomorrow in the morning. He didn't look like someone who would care for Hazel. Hazel was like a gentle soul. She needed someone that matched her temperance. Not that arrogant man.

He was rich so what? Hazel stumbled. "Are you ok?" Avery held her. "Yes. It was just a stone. Thank you" Hazel nodded and smiled at Avery. Avery in turn smiled back at her.

Hazel looked back to the house. "No one's coming. Ok?" Avery calmed her. "How would I live without you?" Avery hugged her closely.

The duo walked down the streets and were just about to hail a cab when a black Lamborghini Aventador SV stopped behind them. A tall man in chinos pants and a sky blue shirt that clung to his body alighted from the car.

"I will take them from here. You can go." A familiar voice stopped them in their tracks. That scent. The one that clung to her nostrils even after he had gone. Hazel turned to him in shock. How had he known?

"You can have this" Alessandro gave the cab man some wads of dollars who collected the money excitedly and zoomed off. Avery rolled her eyes at the impact money could have on people.

"Where do you think you are going to?" Alessandro's face changed into a dark mask after the driver zoomed off. He had been coming back to the hotel where he had lodged when one of his men had called him to hurry up.

He knew that they would make a move so he wasn't really surprised when he received the call. He had ordered his driver to turn around and head in the direction of her house. Thankfully, he got there in time.

"Did you really think that you could run away from me?" Alessandro erupted into a peal of laughter. Hazel's feet stuck to the ground and Avery's mouth was clamped together because she was trying to understand how he had gotten there in time.

"I can see the confusion on your faces. I was on my way back from a meeting with a business partner when one of my men called me to inform me of your escape. Next time I will teach you how to use pepper spray well. In fact you will learn how to use it back at home but for now we have a flight to catch"

"What!? A flight? I don't understand" Hazel gasped. "Yes, a flight because you dared to go against my instructions. My private plane is waiting to take us back to Milan." Alessandro smirked.

"I thoug…ht you said tomorrow." "Yes I did but plans have changed" Alessandro moved to drag her while his men held Avery.

"Surprise. We are leaving tonight instead" he said into her ears.
