Hazel stretched and released a yawn from her lips. She rubbed her groggy eyes and stood up from the bed. Although she wanted to sleep, she couldn't.

She tossed and turned on the bed until she heard Alessandro's car drive into the compound. He came in early today, and she wondered why. She traipsed to the connecting door between them and leaned in to eavesdrop.

She straightened when she didn't hear anything from his room. She sighed and strolled to the door. Since she couldn't sleep, she could as well help Maria prepare dinner. She would sleep later.

She stepped out of the room and closed the door after her....
