Chapter 10

Chapter 10

I just learned that my father had gone away, in addition to being married and finding out that I was carrying triplets.

A cloudy and miserable day was chosen for the funeral to take place. There were not a great number of people there to pay their respects.

The crowd scattered in all directions, much like a flock of untamed birds. After some time, my mother and I were the only ones left at the cemetery.

We were experiencing feelings of darkness that were parallel to the cloudy sky. "Mom, do you have a grudge against my dad?" While I was looking up at the gravestone of my father, I inquired.

Evelyn averted her gaze and then responded with "I do." Even in death, I will never forgive him for what he did.

"Then why are you crying?"

"Because I love him. "

That evening, I dragged my fatigued body all the way back to Caradoc's mansion. From the moment that Tom passed away until the end of the funeral services, the process took ten days to be completed in its entirety.

During that time period, I tried to stay as far away from the mansion as possible.

In the same vein, none of the Capells made any attempt to communicate with me in any way.

The news that my father had passed away was something that I kept to myself and did not discuss with any of the other people who were residing at the Capell residence.

Things were as chilly as snow and as cold as ice.

As I made my way into the main courtyard of the estate, I saw that the lights were on and that the reception area was packed with guests.

People were laughing and joking with one another while holding wine glasses.

I paused for a little period of time.

“Madam!”

As soon as Mrs. Rosalie noticed ne, she rushed over to offer assistance. Perhaps it was the contrast between my frigid and mournful attitude and the lively environment of the living room, but Mrs. Rosalie's smile wavered when she halted .

"It’s cold and windy. Come inside. " Mrs. Rosalie said as she pulled me into the living room by the arm and grabbed a seat.

A cold wind swept in.

I felt far more frigid than normal.

I had a brief glance of the living room, and a spontaneous notion sprang to my mind in response to what I saw.

The guests in Caradoc's house were staring at me as if I were an animal in a zoo.

Their looks were impudent and condescending at the same time.

I didn't break my gaze and kept staring right at Caradoc, who was sitting in the exact middle of the sofa.

The cigarette that he was holding between his fingers was producing a thick cloud of smoke that encompassed him. Behind the thick cloud of smoke, his face seemed lifeless and unapproachable, as if he were in a dream.

My attention was drawn to the woman who was standing next to him. Long and dark, the woman's hair was a striking feature of her appearance. She accentuated her curves with a figure-hugging scarlet dress and dramatic makeup. She was stunning without being in any way suggestive.

She was clinging to Caradoc with the upper portion of her body while also holding a cigarette firmly in her fingers. It was obvious that Caradoc's relationship with this woman was not ordinary in any way.

After I had made eye contact with the woman for a minute, a brief frown formed between my eyebrows. The woman got up from the couch and came closer to me while asking me in a challenging manner,

"It has been brought to my knowledge that Madam Capell picked you as Caradoc's bride. Although it's undeniable that you have a charming appearance, I can't help but notice that you have a flat breast. "

" You are stunning, and I envy your curves; Everything about you is superior to what I have to offer... So, tell me, when exactly do you and Caradoc plan to tie the knot? "

"Do you have the audacity to address me in such a manner? Even though you're his wife, he wouldn't blink an eye if I hit you in the face right now!"

After the woman had finished what she had to say, she made a motion with her arm. The sound of glass being smashed filled the atmosphere with a foul odor.

A brilliant red liquid overflowed the table's edge and proceeded to make its way down into the carpet below.

My eyes were bloodshot as I gazed angrily at the pompous woman with my fingers tightly clutched around the bottle. I gave her the cold shoulder.

"You want to hit me, huh?"

She screamed while clutching the broken bottle, "If you touch me, I'll kill you!"

As everyone in the area attempted to make sense of what had just taken place, there was utter quiet.

In tandem with the sharpening of his hawklike stare, Caradoc's tiny lips spit forth smoke. Instantly, there was complete silence in the living room.

I returned to my room and slammed the door in an agitated manner. The house shook from the tremendous explosion.

Everyone shifted their attention to Caradoc so that they could gauge his response. He didn't seem upset at all.

He should have been outraged. Importantly, the value of the wine in the bottle that I had broken was well over $90,000.

"A few days ago, I learned that Miss Alyssa's father had passed away. There's no way she could have come straight from the funeral, what with her wearing all black. "Finally, someone had the nerve to speak out.

lexi Wilson, the PR department director at Black stone Group. she decided to celebrate Caradoc's recuperation by hosting a small gathering of his friends.

Lexi noticed Caradoc's calm demeanor, but she was familiar enough with him to know that his cool exterior might suddenly crack.

She walked back to where he was and, with caution, offered an apology. " I apologize. I didn’t know her father had passed away.”

In the ashtray, Caradoc extinguished his cigarette. With deft movements of his long, slim fingers, he scooped up his wine glass and gulped it down.

After returning the glass to the table, he greeted the boy or girl with a low, seductive, "Enjoy yourselves."

"Thank you"

Caradoc, straightening the collar of his shirt, said, "And Alyssa isn't someone you can touch." There was a note of caution in his voice.
