Chapter 5 The past

Chapter 5 The past

Sheila POV

I could not believe that the doctor was my mate and he was my employer. When he eventually dies like the rest of my mates, I am going to be left with absolutely nothing.

Running away from pack to pack and from city to city.

I had to do something about this as soon as possible. Maybe make him reject me. That would be the perfect plan for me.

I drew a really deep breath.

"But.." I wanted to say something but he would not allow me to spit out a single word out of my mouth, which for me was so annoying.

But what could I do? He was my boss.

"See me in my office. Right away." He announced it to me and I nodded my head almost immediately.

"Okay, sir." I returned to him.

But I stood right on the spot that I was standing without making a single attempt to move away from there.

He gradually walked away from me but a few meters away from his walk, he paused right on the spot and turned around towards me making me almost stop beating as I stared into his eyes, shivering hard with so much fear.

"And I meant right away. Behind me." He empathized with the words and I got the message that he was trying to pass across to me almost immediately.

I got off from the words at his Words and I inched closer to him as he walked gradually into his office.

I wished that I was just offered a mate and now, it turned out to be him. The hot doctor. Who would have known that he was a werewolf in the first place?

Finally, I got to his office and he offered me a seat which I sat on without a second thought. He shot a strange stare at me as the time seemed to go slower.

I was expecting him to say something but it didn't seem as though he was even ready to say anything as he kept on staring at me.

His stare was piercing as though he was staring right into my heart and searching through it.

"And you are?" He inquired

I wanted to say that I was a werewolf but damn it. He already knew that.

"Sheila," I replied.

"And.." he added but at that point, that was the only information that I was willing to spare.

My name was the only thing that should concern him right now because any other thing was going to scare the life out of him and as my boss, that was something that I could not afford if I wanted to survive in this strange city that I found myself in.

I felt so uneasy at the way that he was staring at me and I knew that he knew that

He coughed slightly trying to get back my attention and it worked for him.

I tried hard to say something but I could hardly get the words off my lips.

"I guess that you are too nervous to discuss anything here. And I have to say that this is not a perfect venue too with all those nosy humans littered all around."

"So what do you say, that we go to a bar or something? A werewolf one though." He said.

My heart screamed for me to object to that and it was exactly what I had planned to do but I saw myself giving him a nod.

It was the bond, I knew it for sure and now I had placed myself in more trouble than I could have ever wanted.

I had to give him my address and my contacts now because I didn't have a choice this time.

Finally, I had the chance to leave his office.

And when I finally got outside, I was gasping for breath. As I placed my hands on my knees...

But when I realized that I was going to be creating a wrong impression in the minds of the people that were littered all around, I pulled away from the door and returned to work.

"What's wrong with you Sheila? Why can't you just get a hold of yourself?" I yelled in my head.

"You are just going to go over to him tonight and ask for a rejection politely." I thought in my head.

When I was done for the day, I walked home as fast as I could. I had a lot of other things to meet up with. Cleaning, cooking, and a lot of other stuff.

My day was filled with activities to the brim.

I did my work delightfully and in the evening, I took my bath. My Job was a stake there and I did not want my boss to think oddly of me.

I waited on the sofa. Trying as hard as I could to memorize the words just the way that I intended to say them.

"I am sorry but it would be better if you Reject me. I." The lines kept on breaking off and that got me angry.

"When are you going to get anything right Sheila," I yelled out in my head

I could feel my wolf laughing at me from within

"It's so not funny," I muttered to myself.

I wanted to go back to the rehearsal but then, I heard a car hanging outside. It has to be his. I got the bag that had been lying on the sofa all this while and I got down to see if he was the one who it was someone else

I was right. He was the one and I had to say that he was hotter than he was when I saw him in the office earlier that day.

"Hop in." He mumbled from the faint voice that streamed out from the car and I did just that almost immediately.

He drove through the city and I tried as much as I could not maintain eye contact with him.

"So you said you are new. What pack are you from?" He Inquired.

I was not going to tell him the truth and I had already formulated all the lies that I was going to say to him right in my head.

"I don't know. My parents took me to a werewolf city at a young age. And after their death, I wanted to explore somewhere else." I saw myself lying but I just had to do it.

"That sounds interesting." He noted as he drew a stop at a really beautiful bar.

We walked into it and made ourselves comfortable in one of the seats.

The glass of wine, we began our day while he continued to throw different questions at me but I had to say that I came prepared.

I was already tired and I wanted to hit the nail on the head and be done with all of that already.

"Why aren't you asking Anything?" He inquired.

"I just have one thing to say. Reject me." I found myself saying something different from what I had practiced.

I could see a confused look on his face.

"And why?" He inquired.

I could no longer restrain the tears in my eyes as I thought about my past.

"Can't you sense it? I am cursed." I returned to him but I think that got him even more confused than he was already.

"I don't understand. What are you talking about?" He Inquired.

"You don't have to understand what I am talking about. Just know the fact that we have never met." I replied.

And before he could say any more words, I ran away from the place as fast as I could.

I could trace my way back home and I prayed that he had not followed me home because I could not stand to see his face again, not even at work.

I was going to avoid him as much as I could.

When I got on, my heart was pounding on my chest as though it was going to burst through, and cold shivers ran swiftly down my spine.

I thought he had followed me but After listening for a while, he didn't seem to have.

I walked gradually towards the bed and I fell face up on it. My heart raced fast as I strand tears escaped from my eyes.

"Do you think that he is going to leave you alone?" My wolf inquired.

"I don't know but I am determined to make sure that he stays away from me."
