Matthew POV
I could not stop thinking about my father and his pack. I was a lone wolf and today was going to make it the third year that I ran away from my pack.
Even though I was the heir of the pack. I did not care about it anymore. Not after getting into multiple fights with my father on several occasions
He wanted me to be his puppet and wanted me to do exactly what he wanted just like everyone else in the pack house, even when he was doing wrong and that was just way too absurd.
something that I could not bear to see and for this reason, we were never in agreement.
And finally, when I found my mate Jayden, a tiger Alpha was the event that pulled everything up to a string that eventually broke
He noted that I could not have anything to do with the best but I was determined to live with my Mate and when I could not stand it anymore, I had to leave.
At first, I thought that my mate was not going to join me, noting that he was also an Alpha but in the end, he did. I could never have asked for anyone better.
I pulled my head away from the thoughts of the past. I had to focus on my future now and Besides, I had a lot of work to finish up with
Then, the lady with the strange aura walked into my office.
Initially, I wanted to decline her until the scent hit me. She was also a werewolf and she had this scent that was pulling me over to her.
From all that I had learned, it was supposed to be the mate's scent but this time, my memory was wrong because my wolf did not confirm the fact that she was my mate.
But I was so attracted to her that I wanted to know more about her. She had run away from her pack just like me and we might have a shared fate together.
And that was the main reason that I decided to give her the job.
But then, my mate Mark decided to come alive when she was long gone.
"Mate! Mate!" My wolf cried out from the inside of me but I was really confused.
"Was the moon goddess trying to play a game with me?" The thoughts ran f in my head.
I already had a mate that I was fateful to so how could it be that I had been offered another mate by the moon goddess?
I could feel my wolf heart beating hard.
"And this is certainly the right time to wake up. I don't even know where she went to now." I growled back at my wolf and just as I had expected, it howled back at me.
"Even wolves get to rest." He returned to me.
I was really angry at the word. Was he trying to play games with me or something
"Do you even realize that we have a mate already?" I shot
"I guess that the moon goddess has other plans for us. You know that the bond that you are feeling right now is greater than the one that you have ever felt for your current mate so you should know what that means. She is the one that you are meant to be with."
"And don't you try to put things off at me as though I am the course when it's all in your fate? I should be the one angry and not the other way around." He howled.
But no matter how tormented the scent and the band decided to become, I was certainly not getting off from here to meet with anyone.
But as I sat on the chair. I was so restless and my hands were shivering badly that I could hardly tell what was happening to me.
I knew for sure that I would have to answer the call of the mate bond and also do that as soon as possible.
I pulled off my phone where it was lying and I pouched Ella's contacts into it
"Ella!"
"Sir. Is there anything that I should help you with, sir?" She inquired.
"I want you right in my office right this moment," I announced.
"Okay, sir. I will be down there as soon as possible." She returned to me.
Now all I had to do was wait.
I was sweating and gasping for breath like someone had just found a race and my heart was racing fast.
Finally, I heard a cracking sound from the door and When I looked up, I noticed that it was Ella and I was really glad to see her.
"You called me sir." She returned to me and I nodded my head almost immediately.
"Yeah, I called."
"I just wanted to inquire about something from you. The lady that came here a few minutes ago, where is she now?" I inquired.
"I left her in the basement. She is cleaning the place up." She responded.
That was the exact information that. Wanted.
She stared at me for a while with a strange look hanging on her face.
"Is everything all right sir?" She inquired staring right into my eyes but I nodded my head.
We Few people knew about werewolves in the city and I did not want her to find out about anything
"Should I get her for you sir if anything is wrong?" She inquired, snapping me off from my thoughts.
"No, certainly not," I responded to her.
"I just wanted to find out if she started the job already or if I would just lay her off. Do you think that she is fit for the job? I think that I made the wrong decision." I returned to her.
"No sir. I think that she is just perfect for the job. She already started and she is putting in a lot of effort, unlike the other staff." She responded and I nodded my head.
"That's okay. You can go now."
She walked away and I kept staring at the space that she had created in my office.
I kept on thinking about Jayden but I was sure that he was not going to take it way too hard on me.
I waited for a few moments to make sure that Ella was far away from me so that I would do what I had to do.
After a few moments, I walked gradually towards the basement.
With every single step that I took further, I could feel the scent become way stronger and the bond pulling the both of us together like some strange force.
Finally, I got over to her as she swept her mop across the floor.
She recognized my presence instantly as her mate and she turned around slowly towards me but she was so startled to see that I was her mate.
"Mate, I noted staring right into my eyes.
She wanted to say something but her words broke into a stutter.
I could see the fear written all over her eyes as though she was going to run away but she was able to stay put right on the spot.
Something was off but I could not tell what exactly it was
She was trying hard to control her emotion but I had to say that she was terrible at doing that.
Her sweaty palms, shivering hard, and her eyes running all over the place said it all
She was afraid that something terrible was going to happen.
"But how bad was it going to be? I was certainly not going to sack her. Or a Rejection?" I thought in my head.
