What if they are not safe out there? Her question created a surge of various doubts in Everett’s head as he sat there spellbound.
This girl was brutally assaulted and even chased to death. What are the chances that her family members are safe?
What if someone tries to harm her, again?
“Let me ask the police officer to speed up the investigation.” Everett immediately picked up the cell phone and dialled the number which was left by Lewis Garcia.
“Excuse me.” He rose into feet and almost dashed out of the room, without any delay.
Once she was left alone in the room, the girl let out a sigh and cooped into the bed as she felt fatigue creeping into her body, making her eyelids drooping down.
When Everett returned to the room after grabbing a bottle of water, he could only see her fast asleep in the bed.
"Did she fall asleep?" He wondered and moved closer to the bed, barely making any noise. Even though she was sleeping, her serene beauty was indeed a feast for eyes.
He picked up the blanket and covered her properly, before finding himself a seat on the couch only to fall asleep.
When the girl woke up from her sleep, she saw an elegant gentleman sitting on the couch, looking at her with a faint smile.
“I’ve informed the detective. He said he will send a word to other police stations and check the CCTV footage from the nearby areas.” Everett said as walked over to her side and grabbed the water bottle kept on the bedside table.
“Drink this and I will get you something to eat." He opened the bottle and passed it to her.
“Hmm thank you.” She reached out for the bottle and quickly took a mouthful of water only to spit it out.
“Cough...cough.” She grabbed her neck as the water trickled down through her dry throat and made a vague effort to muffle her coughs.
“Slowly...don't pour it down..take small slips,” Everett instructed as he fished out a handkerchief from his jacket and gave it to her.
“Thank you, first brother.” She casually said and wiped her mouth with his handkerchief.
Taken aback by her form of addressing him, Everett's eyebrows arched in surprise. "First brother?"
“You never told me your name. What else should I call you?” She asked innocently. Whether it's “Everett. That’s my name.”
“Everett.” She chanted his name in a mellow voice as sweet as honey. “Nice name and I’m...ah...I will tell you once I remember.”
“I’m sure your name will be as pretty as you.” He unknowingly replied.
“Huh?”
“Nothing!!!” Everett couldn’t believe he just blurted out whatever was running inside his brain. The fluttering emotions in his mind was something unfamiliar and it almost pushed him into trouble.
Just as he stood there confused, a faint knock was heard at the door.
It was the duty nurse.
“Patient’s guardian, do you mind waiting outside for a moment, I need to change her dressing?” The nurse asked as she pushed the trolley inside the room.
"Yes." Everett nodded and stepped out of the room after. However, right at that moment, his cell phone rang and it was from Lewis Garcia.
“Young master Silvius. We ran her finger prints and photos in the database and looked for a match on the server. It's negative. Unfortunately, there is no data regarding that girl.” Lewis Garcia's voice was heard from the other side.
“What?”
“There is a high chance that she might turn out to be an illegal migrant. It is better that you don’t get involved with her. You may not know what kind of person she actually is.” He gave a warning, almost sending a chill down his spine.
“Did you check the CCTV footage?”
“Yes, we are going to the accident spot you have mentioned to collect some onsite evidence." "Detective Garcia, I will call you back." He said and knocked at the door.
“Nurse, can you please keep an eye on her? I need to go somewhere. It's an emergency.” “That’s not quite possible.”
“It won’t take much time.” He somehow persuaded the nurse and rushed out of the hospital. His mind has turned into absolute chaos and all he wants is to see the results with his own eyes to calm himself.
He needs to find the truth about the girl. And his car only stopped in the same place where he crashed into their car.
“Young master Silvius, you are here?” Lewis who was wrapping up the investigation. “Did you find anything?” Everett asked the police officer,
“Only this.” He pointed out the beige trench coat that was found after searching the entire stretch of the highway
“Cross test the blood samples taken from the coat with the girl. If it matches, we can go for further investigation. ” Lewis instructed the forensic expert who was checking the trench coat.
"This coat looks expensive.” The forensic expert shared his opinion as he went ahead with collecting any helpful stuff.
“Johan, Check the pockets.”
Just as he heard the comment, he checked the inner pockets and found a torn birthday card and photograph.
It was a photograph of a couple. Though the face of the man in the picture was torn off the woman was identified as the same person who was admitted to the hospital.
It was the same girl.
The forensic expert opened the birthday card and read aloud,
“Alan, my parents are waiting to see their daughter-in-law.
