Chapter 30

"Fall back," Drogo orders. "Everyone fall back to the tree line."

We retreat into the forest and I can hear people panicking around me. The warriors are trying to stay calm but even they look scared. Matthias's army is at least three times bigger than we expected.

"Where the hell is Aldric?" Marcus hisses. "He was supposed to be here by now."

"Maybe he's not coming," Cole says.

"He has to come. Without his forces we're dead."

Drogo dismounts and gathers everyone around. "Listen up. The plan hasn't changed. We just need to buy time until Aldric gets here with his warriors."
