His leg stiffened at a place, staring at his father who laid lifelessly on the bed. That last sentence his mother made hit his ear.
"Is she for real? I'll have to get married and have a child before my father departs…" he sniffed smiling. "This woman must be joking. If only she knew how much I hate that gender, she wouldn't make such a statement." He got seated on one of the chairs there.
His eyes affixed at a place… not actually on his mom, but at the wall.
He seemed like one seeing a vision through it.
"You heard me Lucien, right?" His mother drew his attention.
He flicked his head aside to glance at her. "This woman is being serious, it wasn't actually a joke." He sighed.
"Mum, you mean I'll have to get married huh?"
"Yes, that's what I meant." She replied.
He took a deep breath. "But I don't have any lady that I'm interested in for now. I don't even want anyone." He stated.
Mrs Wong glared at him. "A thirty years old man like you had the guts to utter all these gibberish words. You must be insane Lucien…." She got on her feet. "I'm leaving to get something now, make sure to hasten up and get things done on time."
Lucien watched his mother leave the ward. He felt goose pimples fall over his skin, so he shrugged his shoulders.
"Father, this is not what we agreed on please, wake up… get up and talk to me… you need to walk." He yelled out of anger.
A nurse dashed into the room instantly. "Sir, you're disturbing the patients please."
He glared at her. "You must be insane for saying, go to hell." He scared her away with his hoarse voice.
The nurse didn't have a second thought again, she left the ward leaving him alone.
"Gosh! I'm really going insane now." He picked his car key and left the ward. While strolling down the corridor, he met his mother.
"Going to get the girl ready right? Be fast please." She uttered.
He didn't say a word, he only walked past her out of the building to his car. Heading home is something he needs to do now, at least to think over his issue.
Within some minutes, he had already arrived at his home, alighted from the car and headed towards his veranda.
"Sir… " called his attention.
He paused and kept staring at him. "What's it? I've warned you severally to stop calling me out like this but you wouldn't hear me."
Nolan bit his lips, he noticed that his boss wasn't in a good mood and it revealed on his face.
"I'm sorry sir, just that you have a visitor in the sitting room." He announced.
He looked off. "Just that? Maybe he should come next time."
"Sir, he needs your help urgently. Please attend to him." Nolan pleaded.
He knitted his brows. "It's okay then, I'll be back." He twitched into the sitting room to get the not too old man sitting on the sofa with his daughter.
The presence of the man made him stop by. "Mr Derrick, I'm sure you're here for my payment right? Don't just get me annoyed with your pleadings this time because, I'll get you jailed." He roared at the elderly man.
Mr Derrick got on his feet, he knew Lucien would be mad at him once he set his eyes on him as his visitor.
But the truth must be said, he isn't with any money to pay for his debt.
"I haven't raised the money yet, please bear with me… I'll do something about it." He pleaded.
Lucien shook his head, that isn't what he expects to hear from him… and moreover, he's in a very bad mood already, had here is the old man fueling his anger.
"You had the guts to visit me just for pleading huh? When we had the deal, is this how it started to move? Okay, maybe I made a mistake by lending you money right?" He yelled at him.
Mr Derrick didn't say a word, he had known Lucien to be that type who doesn't take a shit from anyone. He doesn't care about your position or age.
Lucien will never change to become someone else. He is that ruthless billionaire everyone knows.
He stepped towards Mr Derrick. "Look into my eyes and tell me that you're seeing happiness… Tell me that you care. The answer should be no, because I'm not gonna take it with you this time."
He bit his lips in consternation, his heart was beating so fast that one could hear the sound.
"It's been over a year since I lended you the money, and you haven't paid a dime since then… you expect me to be happy huh?" He screeched to his hearing.
Mr Derrick shook his head. "I'm very sorry Lucien, but I haven't had the money with me. I keep spending it to solve my problems." He almost broke out in tears.
Lucien didn't care about the look on his face, all he wanted was his money.
"I can't be working out my ass and you'll be pulling me down." He gripped his arm. "Mind you Mr, make sure you bring a solution to this, or I'll jail you right from here. Even if it's to sell your properties… go ahead and do that, I don't care. All I need is my money."
Derrick heaved a big sigh, he didn't know what to give as a reply. There's no other means of income for him, and he can't sell any of his property… they're all valuable to him.
"Give me a reply, what other option do you have to pay the money or I should go ahead with my actions." He yelled at him.
He froze immediately, the fire burning in Lucien's eyes showed that he wasn't joking at all. He's so ready to deal with the poor man.
"I don't know what to say for now, I would advise you to give me some time so I can make it up for you please… don't jail me." Derrick pleaded.
Lucien hasn't for once lended anyone, and here is Derrick telling him cock and bull stories about his money.
He can't still tell the kind of person he turned to on that day he lended him the money.
"You have a daughter right?" Lucien asked him.
He nodded, shivering in fear. "Yes… I have a daughter, she's my only child.. Please don't talk about her here." He was crying inwardly, but Lucien didn't care.
"I need a female servant that would serve me in all aspects… and for me to let you go now, you'll have to bring that girl here or I'll jail you." Lucien stated his hearing.
Goose pimples fell on his skin on hearing that, who on earth would hand over his daughter to a heartless and cold-hearted man like him.
His daughter will pass through hell If he accedes to this, and it's not gonna bring a benefit for him. Olivia is the only child he has, and doesn't joke with her.
"Please Lucien, get my daughter out of this… I'll surely pay you from now onwards. That girl is the only child I have… you can't just take her away from me this way." He swallowed deeply. "If you don't mind, I'll help you get a female servant please."
Lucien wasn't taking it easy with him anymore. "She's the only thing you have and the only one that will set you free from my wrath. So don't make a wrong choice."
He shook his head not knowing what to say again. Only liquids drop from his face despite the air condition.
"You're keeping me waiting Mr." He glared at him. "Anyways, I'll make the choice myself. You'll enter the car and I'll leave with you to your home. That young lady must be my female servant." He declared and let go of his arm.
Derrick stared at him with mouth agape, he was damn speechless.
"Nolan…" Lucien called his servant.
"Yes master. I'm here." He spoke once he arrived.
Lucien turned towards him. "Tell the driver to get ready, he will drive me to Mr Derrick's house now." He ordered.
He nodded and left outside, extending the message to the driver.
"Mr Derrick, you're leaving with me to your home now. Once we reach, I'll return with your daughter. Make sure to tell her the reason she's leaving with me, at least to save you the stress of paying the millions you're owing me." He announced his hearing.
The Old man had been speechless all this while, the tears that gathered in his eyes rolled down instantly.
Honestly, he can't stand to watch his daughter shed tears and ask for his help. He had known that Olivia wouldn't be comfortable leaving with Lucien, but he had no other option left for him.
It's either he pays the debt, or hands his daughter over to the billionaire as a payment for his debt.
