Laura nodded with a composed expression. “She is my daughter.”
An uproar erupted once more.
Laura continued, “My daughter was once deceived, mistaking trash for treasure. Now, that same trash has been picked up by your daughter…”
“All right. All right.”
Laura’s biting words left Cyril visibly embarrassed and mortified.
As for Liam’s family, their faces were a mix of shock and disbelief as they were escorted out.
At the hotel entrance, I was about to climb into Laura’s sleek Ferrari when Liam suddenly dashed forward, blocking the door with his body.
“Andrea,” he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation. “It was Darlene who seduced me. She bewitched me. I still love you. Please, give me a chance. Can we start over?”
I watched him with a cold smile, reveling in his pitiful attempt to beg for another chance.
“Sorry, I’m not a recycling station. Please go where you belong.”
Emily suddenly appeared, her voice pleading. “Andrea, please forgive Liam. He’s young and naive, easily misled by others. You two were once in love—surely you can give him another chance.”
She continued, “You know, he’s a good cook, considerate, and he would make a good husband.”
A “good husband”? How dare she claim that! My disgust was palpable.
But rather than rejecting her immediately, I maintained a polite demeanor. “Mrs. Morgan, you’re absolutely right.”
Liam and Emily’s faces brightened with hope. “Andrea, does this mean you forgive me?”
