Chapter 9

Chapter 9

I paid no mind to Liam’s frantic pleas. Instead, seeing his disheveled, pitiful state, I felt a sense of grim satisfaction.

“If it weren’t for the money, would you have ever flattered Darlene?” I asked, my voice dripping with contempt.

Liam, visibly trembling, shot me a look filled with resentment. “Wait, Andrea, just wait! You’ll regret this!”

I laughed off his threats, unconcerned. The Morgans had ruffled too many feathers, and now their downfall was met with indifference from everyone around. The whole family was in turmoil, and no one was willing to come to their aid.

Desperate, Liam turned to loan sharks for money, hoping for a lifeline. I discreetly arranged for him to receive assistance, but the result was bleak. Despite his efforts and the considerable sum he spent, his arrogant sister could not be saved.

In the end, his home was seized by the loan sharks, and he and his parents were left to sleep under a freeway overpass.

Later, I learned that Liam and his parents had left Winton. Reduced to relying on cleaning jobs to make ends meet, they had lost both their confidence and their pride.

In the end, Liam’s threats to retaliate proved to be nothing more than empty bluster.

As for me, I had put romance aside and focused on my own company, dedicating myself to my work with renewed determination.
