Lauren's POV
I almost fell as I jumped to my feet but some ladies in the room grabbed me, not allowing me to make a move. I touched my body and struggled from their grip as I walked like a zombie to the standing mirror.
"No this can't be real! This can't be me!" I shouted.
I was looking at myself fully dressed in a wedding gown with a veil on my head. This is a dream. How did I even land here? I was supposed to be in a car heading to meet the Alpha of BaconAven not getting wedded.
I needed to wake up before this became a reality. So I slapped myself so hard in the face and it stings.B"Hey don't ruin your makeup, Lauren, you are a beautiful bride," I heard a very thin sweet voice. I paused and turned to look at the one who spoke. If I had thought the lady who invited me to the car was impeccable, this person standing before me must be the greatest impeccable woman I've ever seen. She smelt money.
I couldn't speak for a while as I looked at her. She must be older but her beauty was stunning. "Don't be surprised Lauren, you signed up for this," she said smiling.
"How… How… " I stammered.
"How did I know your name?" She chuckled.
At that moment, I became so scared and I didn't think that Mimi would set me up like this. No, I didn't want to believe that I would be betrayed by my friend. We've been friends for a long time and we were more like sisters.
"You forget about that and let's get the wedding done, then we can talk more," she said looking at me with interest.
"Wedding? No, I think you got the wrong person. I'm not supposed to wed. I have a boyfriend. This is all a mistake," I said in one breath. They must have gotten the wrong person. I needed to call Mimi so that she could explain to them.
"I didn't expect you to be beautiful. I heard you've suffered all your life," the woman said and pouted her lips and she tried to hold my hands.
"I can't get married. No, I won't do this!" I shouted when I realized that she wasn't ready to listen to me.
My shout got her and she paused looking at me. Then her beautiful face gave a frown that it became so ugly. "That's if you want your useless grandfather buried six feet!” she threatened and I made a pause.
Her mentioning my grandfather made my heart skip and I stopped trying to pull the dress "My grandfather? What did you do to him?" I asked with my voice vibrating like a bouncing iron.
The woman folded her arms and smiled. "Nothing much, I only asked some people to keep him safe till the wedding is done.”
My heart began the race as I wondered how someone could do such evil and be calm. This was all Mimi's fault, she was the one who set me up. "No!" I screamed knowing I wouldn't have a choice but to marry the man I don't know. I wondered how disabled he was for them to force a woman to marry him.
My life has just been ruined. I don't have a good career, I'm poor and now I'm forced to marry a disabled dejected man. Why can't I just have a day of good luck?
"The bride is needed," I heard someone say and I knew it was time for my life to be utterly destroyed. I stared at the door and wished I had superpowers to disappear.
"Remember, if you mess this up, I will utterly destroy you," the woman whispered to my ears before walking out.
Is what is happening meant for Mimi? No! The woman mentioned my name. This must be a set up and the only person who can save me from this is none else but George. George is the only one who can help me.
Tears rolled down my eyes as I watched the door open and I walked to a hall. I paused at the entrance of the hall when I saw its length. I wasn't doing a small wedding, it was a large one.
The Alpha of BaconAven is a wealthy man, so I wasn't surprised at the show of wealth. Walking down the aisle was like walking down to hell. My tears kept on falling while the music; "HERE COMES THE BRIDE '' kept on blasting into my ears.
This wasn't a dream, I was getting married today and everyone that surrounded me was strangers. My family was not here to witness this. I knew I had been disowned by my uncle but he would have put our differences aside to attend my wedding.
But then, I was surprised that I saw the elders of our pack at the wedding, even down to our Alpha. "What is going on?" My wolf asked me.
I knew she wasn't happy with me because she had warned me to stay away from Mimi because she was treating us like a servant but I was at odds with my wolf and now, I'm in a big mess.
I was in so much pain that I wished I could just drop dead. I would have pretended to faint but my father… "I'm sorry Dad, Mom, I've disappointed you again," I mumbled to myself.
I didn't know when I got to where the priest was until someone took my hand. This caught me off guard so I shrank and looked up. Then another wave of shock hit me and I couldn't hide it. I opened my mouth so wide with my eyes about to pop out. I wasn't getting married to a derailed disabled like I thought. Neither was I getting married to the Alpha of BaconAven like I expected but standing before me was Jefferson McDonald the newly crowned Alpha King.
My legs wobbled and I felt like I was going to faint for real but he grabbed me. "If you want to die you can do that later but you have to get this damn wedding done so I can get the f**k out of here," he whispered in my ears and my body shivered at his dangerous tone.
