Lauren's POV
"What the hell is going on!" My wolf screamed.
I still couldn't believe that I was getting married to the most eligible bachelor in the whole of our region and to the most powerful Alpha of all time. Seeing Jefferson McDonald is like seeing a demigod. This must be a dream. I must have eaten something really bad to have such a silly dream.
Jefferson McDonald, I couldn't help but find myself drowning in this man's beauty. He was just the exact copy of what he was said to be. I found myself captivated by his extraordinary handsomeness. His face, sculpted with remarkable precision, possesses a magnetic pull that beckons me to get closer. I didn't know that chubby cheeks could make a man so handsome. I felt like touching it.
From his perfectly tailored Italian suit to the subtle hints of personal flair, every detail contributes to his overall charm. It speaks of a man who takes pride in his appearance while effortlessly exuding and spreading an aura that speaks power.
Every aspect of his appearance ignites a flutter within my heart, heightening my perception of his allure. The translucent lights made him look like he descended from heaven and I couldn't help but be in awe of him. Something then struck my heart.
Why would a man who could have a thousand females if he wants to be married to someone whom he doesn't know? He doesn't seem happy with the wedding just like I am.
Something must be wrong somewhere. I'm not in any way connected to the rich. How then would I be chosen all of a sudden to be the bride of this handsome and powerful man?
An unanswered question rushed into my head that I didn't know when we got to the part where the priest said, "YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE!" That brought me back to reality and I stiffened as a rock.
"He isn't going to kiss me right?" I shouted in my head. My eyes were focused on him with my breath being held. He grabbed my face with his large palms and moved his mouth closer to mine. The rate at which my heart was beating, seemed like it wanted to escape from my body. I could hear how loud it was beating. I just hope I don't get a heart attack.
Jefferson kissed my nose instead of my lips and gave me a smirk before he turned back to the priest. "NOW, I PRONOUNCE YOU MAN AND WIFE." The priest's voice was loud as if someone was cursing me from heaven. I must have done something wrong in my past life for me to get tortured like this.
I looked at the ring sparkling on my finger, it was really beautiful but then I couldn't accept this wedding. I looked at Jefferson and took his hand.
"I need to tell you something," I said almost out of breath. Now we were walking out of the hall.
"Not interested," he said coldly.
I tried getting his attention before we entered another room but he wouldn't listen. Reporters were following us like waves of water.
"Let's get this signed and get out here," that's the third time he spoke to me.
I looked at the marriage register and I didn't want to sign it. My hands were shaking so badly but then looking up, I saw the woman earlier giving me a sinister smile. I hurriedly took the pen and signed my name.
"Shit!" I swore. I should have signed Mimi's name since she was the one who sent me here. Now, there's no going back. My tears started to flow again as I remembered that I'd been forced to marry someone I didn't love. George was going to be disappointed in me. I wish he would forgive me.
Then something dropped into my mind. I didn't see Mimi's parents. I was so confused. How did attending a blind date for Mimi become my wedding? No one at the wedding seemed to be surprised to see me.
Then I saw the Alpha passing by. I stood up and ran to him. "Alpha, please I know you've warned me but this is a misunderstanding. I'm not supposed to be married to the Alpha King, " I said to him.
If he could understand me, then I might be free from all these. "You signed up for this girl, you should face the consequences," the Alpha said and left.
I started to cry and ran after the Alpha in my long dress but I was grabbed by the bodyguards. I looked back and I saw that the man I married had disappeared.
"We need to leave," one of the bodyguards said.
I then began to beg him to let me go see the only person whom I knew would believe me. I also need to ask Mimi why she did this to me. Luckily for me, the bodyguards didn't restrict me. They allowed me to go see George. At first, I wanted to go to George's house but I headed towards Mimi's house. She's the one who put me in such a mess and she should also clean up the mess.
I took my phone hoping to see a lot of missed calls from Mimi and George but I saw none. This came by surprise.
"Did those people switch off my phone?" I asked and scoffed. I wish I could scratch their beautiful faces with my nails. They are so arrogant and think so low of the poor. George would be so mad to hear that I got married. I didn't know how I was going to explain things to him. He had always warned me against going on blind dates for Mimi.
I got to Mimi's house and I saw Lana. Lana was Mimi's assistant but we are like friends. Mimi doesn't like the way I'm close to her because she feels she's just an assistant but to me, Lana is very kind and we get along well.
"Hey Lana," I said with a smile, a very tired smile.
"Hey," Lana looked so tense as she saw me.
I wondered what went wrong. Lana opened her mouth to talk but she was speechless leaving her mouth open in shock. I wondered what this was all about. Did she know what happened to me already?
I wouldn't be surprised because she must have seen the news. Mimi also must have seen it and that's why I'm here to confront her "Is Mimi inn
?" I asked in anger, not wanting to hide how I feel.
Lana nodded but still said nothing. I needed to check on Mimi myself to be sure that something hadn't happened to her with the way Lana was acting. I was already having second doubts that Mimi wouldn't hurt me like that. She must have also been tricked. Mimi is a good friend.
As I was about to leave, Lana held my hand. "I don't think you should go in there," she pouted and I could sense seriousness in her voice.
I didn't know why she was acting strange. This isn't the first time I'll be here. It's like a home to me. I ignored Lana since I needed to talk to Mimi before I left to go meet George. I was in a hurry to talk to Mimi because I wouldn't want those waiting outside for me to restrict me from seeing George. I got to her door and I was about to enter when I heard her talk.
"Can't you throw her out?!” Mimi snapped and I wondered who she was planning to throw out. Mimi is such a spoiled girl. Well, her family is so rich so I won't blame her.
"Don't be ridiculous baby, you know that girl still has a lot to do for me." The voice I heard made my head spin. I shook my head knowing I must be hallucinating. Too much has happened to me today that has messed with my head.
"But you promised me that once you get her to do the last job, you will break up with her. She's done already and you are still with her?" Mimi whined.
I was running mad from stress or have I not woken up from the weird dream that I'd been having all day? No, these two can't do this to me. They are the only family I have.
