Chapter 3 - MPC3

Chapter 3 - MPC3

The sound of shuffling footsteps was heard tapping the shiny tile floor. Feeling a little nervous, Giselle brought her feet to quickly step towards the elevator in the corner of the fifth-floor corridor of a skyscraper located in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD).

Previously, Giselle had been contacted again by Robin. He said Leonardo Massen had invited him to meet today after lunch at the Daxton building.

However, not to mention, the beautiful woman had time to enter the elevator. A man from the other direction seemed less focused so that the collision was finally unable to avoid the two of them. The sheets of paper that Giselle had been carrying were scattered on the floor.

"Arghh!" Giselle grinned.

However, instead of helping, the man in the suit only glanced at her. The next second he continued walking, not even caring when the loafers he was wearing stepped on some of Giselle's papers scattered on the floor.

"Hey!" This time Giselle screamed. The intention is that the heart wants to block the man from stopping his steps. "You have eyes, right?"

Those who were reprimanded with a bit of laziness turned their heads back. From the look on his face, it was clear that he didn't want to respond.

"You talk to me?" he asked casually.

"Same ghost!"

The man immediately chuckled softly.

"You have the wrong person. Just so you know my name is Xavier not a ghost."

"I don't care your name Xavier, Xapinky, or whoever it is. Do you think there's anyone else besides the two of us here? Besides, instead of apologizing for crashing, you can just walk away like that," Giselle snapped.

While Xavier only responded with a cynical laugh. Not in the least bit concerned with the scolding that Giselle was throwing at herself.

"I don't have time to serve people I don't know."

Turning around, Xavier instead chose to leave. But, just a few steps forward, Giselle, who was already exasperated and annoyed, took the initiative to give chase—deliberately pulled the man's arm to stop again.

"What do you want, anyway?" Xavier complained angrily.

"Apologize! You've crashed and dirtied the important papers I brought."

Instead of following Giselle's orders, Xavier, this time, smiled mockingly. "Apologize? Don't dream! Who are you to force me to apologize."

Giselle smiled wryly. Then unexpectedly pushed Xavier's body, it leaned hard against a corner of the wall.

"Don't think I'm a girl, and I can't beat you!" Giselle folded her elbows right in front of Xavier's chest. It's useless since he was little. He mastered various taekwondo moves if that ability can't be applied now. Especially facing an annoying guy like Xavier. "If I wanted, I could break your neck right now."

A bespectacled man suddenly appeared from another direction and immediately separated the two—trying very hard to break up the fight so it didn't get bigger.

"Miss, whatever problem you two have, I'm sure it must be just a misunderstanding. It's better if you two just forgive each other."

Giselle, who was still burning with emotion, immediately looked annoyed. It's good, he thought, immediately forgiving after his pride was trampled.

"Misunderstood, you say?" he cried, not accepting. "Please teach your friend to be polite. Today he might survive. But if one day we meet and his attitude is still the same, don't blame me if he breaks his neck!"

Still annoyed, Giselle grabbed the pile of papers previously collected by the bespectacled man. What he did next left. Giselle thought lingering in front of the two of them could trigger her emotions again.

"Please come in, Miss Giselle."

Robin Mulya politely guided Giselle to enter the main leadership room immediately. Previously, he had received an assignment from Leonardo to invite the woman with bangs to meet his boss at the Daxton building. Leonardo also asked Robin to investigate the background of the person who had helped save his life some time ago.

"These are the results of my investigation, sir. I have attached them all together."

Sitting in the reading room at the time, Leonardo immediately accepted the file Robin handed him over. Read them one by one carefully. Examine what information he can get from the sheet of paper.

"From this report..." Robin said. "I can conclude that Giselle Anna Maria is a Master of Communication Science student at one of the well-known campuses. She is even included in the ranks of outstanding students. It is proven that Giselle was able to get a full scholarship to complete her study program from undergraduate level and even received an offer to continue the doctoral program if this time the master program was completed on time. In addition, this woman also works as a novelist. Some of her writings have even been adapted into films several times. Giselle is also actively involved in charity activities. For the past five years she has been a donor to one of the Permata Hati orphanages. "

Leonardo nodded as he listened to Robin convey the conclusion of what he had reported. Meanwhile, Leonardo kept bringing his eyes to the next page.

"So, Giselle is the youngest child?" he asked.

"Yes, sir," Robin replied, nodding. "Giselle is the second child of husband and wife pair Benjamin Joshua Tjan and Valeria Vennya. So far, Giselle has lived in cheap boarding houses which are not far from the campus where she is studying."

Leonardo looked up. The man momentarily adjusted the position of the glasses he was wearing.

"Benjamin Joshua Tjan?"

Once again, Robin nodded confidently.

"The information I got is very valid, sir. Could it be that you know Giselle's parents?"

Leonardo just smiled faintly. Instead of answering, the middle-aged man asked another question.

"What about a partner? Does the young lady currently have a partner? Boyfriend or husband?"

"For one thing, from the source I got, Giselle has not been in a relationship with any man for the last two years. You could say she is 'single' now."

With all the information he got, Leonardo couldn't wait to meet Giselle in person. He even considered setting this woman up with the child for some reason. She felt that Giselle could change Xavier's attitude, which had been so cold and untouchable.

"Excuse me, sir. This is the Miss Giselle I told you about the other day."

Leonardo snapped out of his reverie. The middle-aged man immediately got up and took small steps toward the guest sofa on the right side of the room.

"Please sit down. Don't hesitate," he said kindly.

Giselle nodded. Then obey the order to be seated immediately.

"Thank you very much for the invitation, sir. Honestly, I am very flattered."

"I should be the one thanking you. Indirectly, Miss Giselle saved my life when I was retiring at the seminar yesterday."

"I'm just doing what I can, sir. I just happen to understand about first aid for patients who have had a heart attack."

Leonardo kept on smiling. The first impression he got, Giselle is a young woman who is polite and very friendly.

"I heard that Miss Giselle is a reliable writer. Even her written work has been adapted into several films. Why don't you try applying at Daxton? Our company is very open to talented young creators like Miss Giselle. Who knows, the next written work can be adapted and entered into in the ranks of films that penetrate foreign markets."

Giselle nodded shyly. It's also flattering because Leonardo can know about his meager work.

"I don't dare to dream too high yet. Daxton is a bona fide company, sir. Everyone knows it's not easy to join there. Moreover, I'm still very amateur. I don't think it's appropriate for—"

"Joshua said, Papa looking for Xavier?"

Giselle's words just hung when from the direction of the entrance, another male figure, without permission, interrupted the conversation between her and Leonardo Massen. When the two gazes met, expressions full of shock could no longer be avoided.

"You!"

Both of them subconsciously said the exact words at the same time. This even caught the attention of Leonardo and Robin, who had been silently paying attention.

"Why is this woman in Papa's room?" Xavier asked, annoyed.

"Because he's a guest, Papa," Leonardo answered casually. Of course, he knew nothing about what had happened between Xavier and Giselle.

"If Papa wants to cooperate or anything with this woman, Xavier suggested, it's better to just cancel it. She doesn't deserve to be in Daxton."

Giselle's eyes blinked slowly. Her focus was directed straight at Xavier's soot-black net. As if trying to understand the meaning of the man's sarcasm.

"It's not appropriate you say? What do you mean?"

Xavier smiled slyly. His eyes looked at Giselle with a scanning gaze from head to toe. From the look on his face, it was clear there was an impression of being so disdainful.

"Women don't know manners like you don't deserve to set foot here."

"Xavier!" It was Leonardo's turn to exclaim disapprovingly.

"Pa, Xavier is serious." Xavier's gaze turned to his father, then pointed his finger at Giselle's face. "This woman, earlier, even openly wanted to beat Xavier."

"There must be a reason for Miss Giselle to treat you like that. How could someone suddenly get angry for no apparent reason."

"But, Pa—"

"Mr. Leonardo," interrupted Giselle. "I think that's enough for today's meeting. I have received your thanks. Since there is nothing more to talk about, I'm allowed to say goodbye. I apologize if my actions are not acceptable here."

Xavier, who could see how upset Giselle was leaving her father's room, chose not to care. It's his fault, he thought. Why did you dare to humiliate and even try to beat him before?

"You're too much, Xavier!" Leonardo snapped. The middle-aged man took several deep breaths to avoid getting emotional seeing his son's attitude.

"Come on, Pa. Don't worry about it. After all, he's already gone. Besides, why did Papa call Xavier here?"

Leonardo asked Xavier to sit down immediately. There was indeed something important he wanted to convey to his only son.

"Papa has found the right wife to be with you."

Xavier nodded slowly. Either way, this day will come. Instead of avoiding it, he better accepts his father's decision.

"So, which girl from the family will Papa marry Xavier?"

Leonardo straightened his seat. Grabbing a photo from his jacket pocket, he handed it to Xavier.

"That's the girl Papa chose for you."

Xavier, without hesitation, accepted the photo that Leonardo gave. Seconds later, the man's eyes went wild. Instead of being happy, he was even surprised.

"Papa didn't make the wrong choice, did he?" he asked to make sure.

"No..." Leonardo said confidently. "Papa's choice is unanimous."

"But this is the woman just now that Xavier chased away. How can she become Xavier's future wife, Pa?"

"Because according to Papa he is the right one for you."

"Worth what? Just from his appearance, he doesn't look like we're equal."

"You think Papa cares?"

Xavier let out a frustrated sigh. It was confident that he could not refuse his father's orders. After all, where is the history of Leonardo accepting negotiations after issuing an order?

"Papa can match Xavier with any woman, but please, Pa. Not with that woman. Xavier can end up being domesticated by her. Besides, after what happened just now, she doesn't necessarily want to accept Xavier as her future husband."

Leonardo couldn't help but laugh. So this is the reason the child is struggling to submit a refusal.

"Papa's decision is unanimous. Either way, you have to be able to make her your future wife. Whether she refuses or not, that's your business."

"Gosh. Is Papa serious about marrying Xavier with the girl just now?"

Again Leonardo nodded.

"Papa gives you a week. If you fail, get ready for the position you hold now, Papa will take too."

Xavier let out a resigned sigh. With a heavy heart, he obeyed his father's orders. Now, it's just how he asks Giselle to be his future wife.
