Before Lucas drove off, he called the security man and whispered something to him which Lesley couldn't hear or so they thought.

Lesley was surprised he could hear what Lucas was whispering to the security man's ear even with the distance and the rate at which he spoke so low.

He touched his ears and wondered what happened to him. He didn't have enough time to contemplate on how he could hear words and discussions at that distance because what he heard momentarily threw him off balance.

A mixture of anger and sadness arose in his heart. He wondered why Lucas said what he said.
