More than a dozen people sat in a room. It was still daytime but the room struggled for enough illumination as lights were allowed to penetrate into the room from a few areas.
Suddenly, the room door opened and a woman in an all black attire walked in. She carried the aura of a person with a great personality.
There was no glimpse of a smile on her face as she majestically walked to her seat secluded from the rest. Her piercing eyes scanned the face of everyone seated in the room without her saying a single word.
"Greetings queen mother," The room greeted as they waited for her to say something.
"Greetings my people," Her face gradually softened.
"Jude please what do we have on our agenda today?" She said, taking a quick glance at a sturdy man that sat separately from the long round table.
Jude stood up,cleared his throat drawing attention towards him as he began to speak.
"The youth ball held after our last meeting went well only that Francesca, the daughter of Mr Hendrick here, ventured into an act without thinking and that could be a problem for us,"He paused briefly as his eyes met with a middle aged man seated across in scorn.
"I believe Mr Hendrick here has gotten an explanation from his daughter for her careless actions," He went on and on listing the items on their agenda.
"The Seer is here with us and would address us concerning the upcoming ceremony," he concluded.
The Seer, a woman that looked to be in her early fifties, walked in. She held a long stick. With the way she held it, one would think she held it for support but in reality, it depicted authority. Only those familiar would know.
She took long strides as she gracefully marched to the front. For a few seconds, she stood fixed to a spot, her face lifted up with her back facing the people in the room.
She slowly turned and faced them after a little while.
"The message is not clear yet. I believe it will be clear soon and only then shall I reveal what I see but I must warn us to be vigilant and careful at all times. We should expect anything and be ready at any time for our enemies."
With a few more distant gaze, she took long strides out of the room. There were murmurs in the room as the Seer walked out.
"The Seer has spoken. We shall wait for her message," The queen ordered them to maintain silence and be calm.
"Hendrick, I hope you know the risk your daughter's carelessness might cause at this park?" She fixed her piercing eyes on Hendrick who bowed his head partly in shame and fear. He knew how dangerous the queen mother could be when provoked.
"Now, it will be your duty to monitor their movement and most especially Liam," She said with a hint of hatred noted heavily as she pronounced Liam.
Liam is the leader of the vampire clan in their vicinity. Many times he had together with his fellow vampire attacked the cater pack and wounded some of the werewolves.
And they had been sworn enemies since then avoiding each other the best they could.
"Lucas, my son would handle Park's company while I am away."
She smiled at Lucas who sat across the table and had maintained a calm demeanour all these while but in the real sense boiling with rage inside of him.
He smiled back with a slight nod. He felt good to be left to handle the company but for how long would he wait to have all that he wanted, all that he believed he truly deserved.
For some reason, he felt the Seer was hiding something. He disagreed that she hadn't seen anything yet.
He would surely find out whatever it was she was hiding. He believed he had been patient enough and a very loyal servant to the Carter's pack both in bloodline matters and work matters.
He believed he deserved to be the new leader, the new Alpha.
He believed he deserved to run Parker's company. He had worked there since he graduated and had been very loyal.
He believed he had shown strength, courage more than any Young werewolf in the park and therefore deserved all that he wished for.
In fight and war with rivals and enemies, he had over and again proven his Love and loyalty to the Park and he believed no one deserves them more than he does. Whatever the Seer was hiding, he would surely find out.
Later that night at Lesley's mansion.(The nightmare)
Lesley had a nightmare. He was chased by a beast he couldn't identify. It was dark and all he saw was shiny eyes and a ferocious beast came after him.
He woke up panting heavily as his body soaked. He sat on his bed and wondered what might have prompted the nightmare.
He didn't remember much that happened in the dream except that he had a feeling that the beast wasn't ordinary and that it had purposely chased him to kill him.
He knew his new position would bring him enemies but never knew they would show face this early.
He promised to be strong if not for anything but for his mother. He would do his very best to make his father proud wherever he was.
He needed to be wary of people, everyone entirely because even those that present themselves as friends could in actuality be enemies disguised as friends.
It had been a few weeks since he took over his father's company. He had done exceptional and his mother has shown so much happiness and even hinted on retiring and leaving him with much of the work.
He reduced his late nights, partying and avoided having lots of women around. He tried as much as he could to not completely turn aloof and cold even if he had turned a little cold, spoke less and avoided flirting with women.
He hoped beyond all the available hope he had inside of him to find the lady he bumped into someday.
Lesley stood up from the bed, yawned and stretched as he headed to have his shower. He needed to be earlier than usual at work since he would be meeting some foreign investors for an important business deal.
As he stepped out of shower, he noticed his phone blinked light, he immediately knew a message had come in while he showered.
He unlocked the phone and let out a frustrated sigh. His mother was at it again matchmaking him like he was some kid who couldn't find a woman.
She has done that in the past and it never worked. He wondered why she won't just let the issue be. She had expressed in the text that she would introduce them to each other after the meeting with the investors.
He scrolled down as he looked through Emily's pictures. He searched his head trying to remember where exactly he had seen Emily before.
Yes! She is the daughter of the finance manager of the company. She is very pretty and her hair blonde. They had known each other while in school before she travelled abroad.
He dropped his phone and began to dress up . He smiled as he looked at himself in the mirror. He might have stayed off women and stopped spreading his charming smile but he definitely didn't stop being gorgeous and he wasn't so sure women would stay off him.
They hover around him whenever they get the chance. He enjoyed it before it irritates him now and he tried as much as he could to avoid them and focus on being a CEO.
"Good morning boss," Nick greeted as he hopped into the car.
"Good morning Nick".
"To Vin's mansion," He said as he strengthened his long legs in the expensive ferrari. The drive from his mansion to Vin's mansion was a short one. He had left the mansion for his privacy. He didn't want his mother getting all worked up each time he brought a woman home nor attract outsiders that could be enemies to his mother with how he lived.
Most especially, he wanted no special treatment from people. As the only son of the Vin's,the richest family in the country, handsome and eligible, his parents surely do have enemies and he didn't want them using him as bait to get to his family.
"Welcome home son,"
Ms Vin spread her hands wide for a hug as Lesley got down from the car. He went into his mother's arms. He noticed two women with her. He recognized one as Emily and the other person must be her sister as they shared a bit of resemblance.
They were supposed to meet at work. He wondered why they were there.
"I invited them for breakfast," Ms Vin explained. It was like she read his thoughts.
"Have you had breakfast yet? Come let's go in please. food has been prepared but first let me introduce you to Emily and her sister Molly. Emily meet...."
"I know him," Emily interrupted as her gaze settled on Lesley.
"Lesley. We were friends before I travelled out." She said with a smile putting her hand forward to shake Lesley.
"Yes. I remember you too," Lesley replied, meeting her gaze.
She is beautiful, he thought.
"You haven't changed much," he added slowly, leaving her hand.
"You neither,"
"Do you still hate peanut butters?" She asked, laughing.
Lesley laughed hard. He couldn't believe she still remembered the reason that made him swear never to eat peanut butter again and actually teased him with it.
They all walked into the mansion as Emily and Lesley kept on talking about their past together.
