Liz’s Pov.
The sharp pain that stung me on my head continued to grow bigger as I tried to open my eyes.
I felt something cold on my head as I finally managed to sit up on the bed. I had only complained of my head-banging but I soon realized I was in for more pain when I tried to lift my right hand to feel what was on my head.
Letting out a tiny voice of pain, a maid immediately rushed towards me.
“Ma’am…”
I didn't even let her complete her statement when I immediately bombarded her with questions.
“What is this?”
“Where is my husband?”
She became silent and calm after she heard my questions which caused me to become more worried.
“Answer me!”
I asked again, sounding more commanding.
“He is not home.” Her voice echoed slowly.
What did she mean by that? I began to fall back into my world of thoughts when she spoke again.
“Ma’am, I might have to call your father.”
I wanted to believe I didn’t hear her properly.
“What gives you the right to call my father? I think you need to stay in your lane and mind your freaking business.” I managed to gather the last strength in me as I scolded her.
The last thing I wanted was for my father to find out about all this. He was going to think I failed him. I remembered the look on his face the last time I complained to him about my marriage and how I did not think Micheal and I were going to be a happy couple.
I heard the maid scoff before she eventually spoke, “Mr Baxter had strictly informed me to call him if anything happened to you.”
She sounded so confident and I knew there was only one thing my father would have done to make her loyal to his instructions.
“How much did he give you?” I asked.
She stood next to me silent.
“I would double it, just keep your mouth shut and stay in your lane.”
She smiled and agreed.
At least, one problem was sorted out.
“I’m just a call away if you need anything, ma’am.” She added and the next thing I heard was a loud bang on the door.
My heart instantly fell into my stomach. I was filled with fear. Who could that be, I wondered?
Before I knew it, I saw Ebony match into my room with range plastered all over her face.
I was shocked and confused as well. Why would she be angry? I'm not the one who just got fucked to her satisfaction but the one who got cheated on even after all her hard work.
All these thoughts clouded my thinking as I lay in silence, staring at her and early eagerly waiting for her to speak.
Soon, the room was filled with laughter. Was she now losing her mind? Because I could not recall anyone saying anything funny.
“You filthy maid! Don't you know your place? Leave her this minute!”
I felt fear strike the maid as she immediately rushed towards the door and left the room leaving just Ebony and I in it.
My mouth remained sealed, I didn't utter a word still. She began to move closer to me. Her feet made this rhythm which I couldn't help but admit sounded good.
“Cat cut your tongue, huh?” Ebony spoke in the rudest way ever.
I rolled my eyes at her and turned the other way thinking that would be enough to send her away from the room.
Shame filled me with her presence. I could not bring myself to talk to her after what my so-called husband had done.
“I know you have a lot to say, silly woman. Were you not the one ranting a few hours ago?”
She already walked to the other side of the room where I had previously turned my face to.
“Just leave Mrs. Personal assistant.”
I spoke back with little or no confidence evident in my voice.
She let out an annoying laughter which caused me to think once again that she had lost her mind.
“Mrs. Personal Assistant, you remind me how foolish and naive you are. I can not still believe you were so easy to fool.”
She grabbed the chance to rub it all over my face once again.
“Just Leave me alone!”
“Sadly, I can't because I will soon have a place in this house.”
I looked up at her to see bravery written all over her face.
What kind of lies had Micheal fed her now?
“You are just delusional, go tell your man to feed you the truth because I have no idea what he had begun to promise you.”
“You are the one who needs to be fed the truth because you think you can win Micheal’s heart. He is all mine!” She screamed before she eventually left the room.
I was glad she left but I began to think of what she meant by her statement.
This house would be a living hell for me if she ever came to live here.
Micheal’s father would not even allow such after the agreement he had with my father. She was just speaking trash and nothing more. She was just filled with empty threats.
I remembered I had not heard or seen Micheal. I knew I deserved an apology for what he did to me! He ought to be next to me making sure I was doing alright or maybe it was Ebony who restricted him from coming to me.
She had to leave my house! I was tired of seeing another woman come between me and my husband.
I heard my phone ring but I ignored it because I didn’t want to speak to anyone. My ringtone echoed once more in the room and so I had no choice but to take the call.
The number wasn’t saved on my phone. Who could this be?
