Chapter 6 BUSY DAY

Chapter 6 BUSY DAY

~Nathan~

"Nathan! Nathan!, please I'm begging you please brother. Remember you said you would do anything for your little sister." Amber kept screaming my name at the top of her voice as she decided to chase me out of my room with her constant pleading.

"No, Amber, that was what you said the last time and I allowed you but you came back wasted." I said, trying to remind her of what had happened the last time she came back from the club.

"And again it is too early to be talking about going to a club."

"Am sure you know that clubbing happens at night."

"Yes, brother I do, I just decided to tell you ahead of time because I don't know when you might leave the house." Amber said with a cute pout on her lips and she knows exactly what that does to me.

"Please brother, just this once."

I couldn't help but chuckle at Amber's cute pout. She knew exactly how to get to me, and I couldn't resist her when she looked at me like that.

"Amber, you're not playing fair," I said, trying to sound stern but failing miserably.

Amber's pout deepened, and she batted her eyelashes at me.

"I'm just trying to get my big brother to say yes," she said, her voice sweet and innocent.

I sighed, knowing I was beaten.

"Fine, Amber. You can go to the club tonight, but you have to promise me you'll be careful and come straight home afterwards. And no getting drunk, okay?"

Amber's face lit up with a smile, and she threw her arms around me.

"Thank you, Nathan! I promise I'll be careful, I swear!"

I hugged her back, feeling a sense of relief that the pleading was over. But then I remembered something.

"Amber, wait. Who are you going to the club with?"

Amber hesitated, looking away from me.

"Uh, just some friends."

I raised an eyebrow. "What friends?"

Amber sighed, knowing she couldn't hide it from me.

"Fine, I was going to go with Sarah and Emily."

I frowned, not liking the sound of that. Sarah and Emily were not exactly the best influences on Amber.

"Amber, I don't know if that's such a good idea," I said, trying to sound cautious.

But Amber just rolled her eyes.

"Nathan, I'm 17 years old. I can take care of myself. Besides, you promised me I could go."

I sighed, knowing I had no choice but to trust her.

"Fine, but be careful, okay?"

Amber nodded, still smiling.

"I will, Nathan. I promise. And don't worry, I'll be with Sarah and Emily the whole time. We'll look out for each other."

I nodded, feeling a sense of unease. I didn't like the idea of Amber going to the club with those two, but I knew I had to trust her.

She was 17, after all, and I couldn't keep her locked up forever.

"Okay, fine. But like I said, be careful. And don't forget to check in with me when you get there and when you leave."

Amber nodded, rolling her eyes good-naturedly.

"Yes, brother. I'll be sure to check in with you every five minutes so you can make sure I'm not having too much fun."

I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Just be safe, okay?"

Amber grinned and hugged me again.

"I will, Nathan. Thanks again for letting me go!"

"Alright little flower, if you would excuse me I have a meeting to attend this morning." I said to Amber as I pinched her cheeks.

"Ouch bro, that hurts and you know I don't like to be called little." She said as she placed her hands on her waist and looked straight into my eyes.

"I know kiddo," I responded with a smile on my face and started heading back upstairs to my room.

"No bro, not kiddo, that is even worse than little flower."

I laughed and shook my head, "Alright, alright, I'll stop with the nicknames. But just remember, be careful tonight and don't forget to check in with me."

Amber nodded, still looking a bit annoyed but also relieved that I was dropping the subject. "I will, Nathan. Thanks again for letting me go."

I headed back upstairs to my room, and noticed that time had gone really fast.

I had about an hour before my meeting, and I needed to prepare.

I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop, pulling up the presentation I had worked on the night before.

As I reviewed my notes, I felt a sense of confidence.

I was well-prepared for this meeting, and I knew I was going to nail it. I stood up and began to pace around my room, rehearsing my presentation in my head.

After a few minutes, I felt ready.

Then I quickly took my brush, added my paste to it and headed to the bathroom.

Seriously Amber has really wasted my time this morning.

As I brushed my teeth, I couldn't help but think about how much time Amber had wasted this morning.

I was going to be late for my meeting if I didn't hurry up.

I spat out the toothpaste and rinsed my mouth, then I turned on the shower and stepped under the warm water, feeling it wash away my stress and fatigue.

Well as I'm bathing let me introduce myself.

"I'm Nathan Thompson by name. The Alpha of Moon Peak Pack. I'm a 25-year-old marketing executive Chairman of the 'Thompson's' Industry, who is driven, confident, and determined. I'm a responsible and protective older brother to my 17-year-old sister, Amber."

"Well I have had this full time job ever since my parents died, I had to take it upon myself to protect Amber and also to take care of the family's business."

"I also forgot to add that I'm every girl's speck."

As I was drying off, I heard Amber calling out to me from outside the bathroom door.

"Nathan, don't forget to wear a nice suit! You want to make a good impression!"

I chuckled and shook my head, "I know, Amber. I'm not a child."

I finished getting dressed and headed out of the bathroom, feeling refreshed and ready for my meeting.

I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, calling out to Amber as I left.

"See you later, sis! I'm off to my meeting."

Amber looked up from her phone and waved goodbye.

"Good luck, Nathan! You'll do great."

I smiled and nodded, feeling a sense of appreciation for my little sister's support.

I had called my driver earlier and thank goodness he is quite on time today.

As I stepped into the car, my driver, Andre, greeted me with a nod.

"Good morning, Mr. Thompson. Ready for your meeting?"

I nodded, settling into the seat.

"Yes, Andre. Let's go."

Andre expertly navigated the morning traffic, and we arrived at the meeting location with plenty of time to spare.

I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts and mentally preparing myself for the presentation.

As we pulled up to the building, I could feel my confidence soaring.

I was ready to nail this meeting and make a great impression.

"Thanks, Andre," I said, stepping out of the car.

"I'll be back soon."

Andre nodded and smiled.

"Good luck, Mr. Thompson. You'll do great."

I smiled back and headed into the building, feeling a sense of determination and focus.

I was Nathan Thompson, the Alpha of Moon Peak Pack and the chairman of Thompson's Industry. I was ready to take on whatever challenges came my way.

"Why hasn't my receptionist come down to take my bags inside," I thought to myself and it was then I realized that she had resigned and I made provisions for a new receptionist which I'm yet to interview.

"Oh, no. How come I forgot about the new lady coming in today for an interview and I also have a meeting right now with the directors."

I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself. I couldn't let my personal life interfere with my professional responsibilities.

I needed to focus on the task at hand and make a good impression on the directors.

Just then, my assistant, Rachel, approached me looking frazzled.

"Mr Nathan, I'm so sorry but the new receptionist candidate is already here and she's waiting for you. And the directors are getting impatient, they're waiting for you in the conference room."

I nodded, trying to remain calm.

"Okay, Rachel. Please show the candidate to the interview room and I'll be right there. And let the directors know I'll be with them shortly."

Rachel nodded and scurried off to attend to the tasks.

I took another deep breath, gathered my thoughts, and headed to the interview room to meet the new receptionist candidate.

As I entered the room, I was greeted by a young woman with a bright smile and a confident demeanor.

"Hi, Mr. Thompson. I'm Riley, nice to meet you."

I smiled back and extended my hand.

"Nice to meet you too, Riley. Please, have a seat."

"Alright we are going to make this really quick because I don't have all day." I said to her and she nodded.

I sat down across from her and began the interview, trying to focus on the task at hand and push aside the distractions of the morning.

But I couldn't shake off the feeling that this day was going to be a lot more challenging than I had anticipated.
