Sleep wasn’t coming. I didn’t want it, anyway.
It had been hours since I saw Raven walk past the throne room. Within those hours, a hearth had been prepared to keep me warm. Outside, I could hear some wolves howling at the moon. That was the only sound, besides the ugly thoughts running around in my skull.
The letter I’d sent to Alpha Viktor some days back was still unanswered. He didn't so much as send a word back. I’d asked a simple question: Was Yara still in one piece over there? Had she done anything remotely useful? But nothing.
Maybe he was ignoring me on purpose, or...
