Lily’s POV

I was in bed but couldn’t sleep, yes. It’s been hours since we get home from shopping, but I couldn’t bring myself to sleep. Adrian’s kindness lingered inside my head. I was about to close my eyes when I heard knocks on the door.

I got up and opened it. I was surprised when I saw Adrian. His face showed worries. “What happened?”

“I’m sorry, Lily. Can you pack your things now? We will leave in 2 hours.”

“Why? What’s wrong? What happened?” I’m confused.

“My father is in the hospital. My mother just called me. She said my father has to undergo surgery....
