"She's my friend, and I'm sorry for what happened," I told him before handing him the unconscious Rain.

"I understand, Alpha," he smiled, although the smile didn't reach his ears. 

"I can't face Rain when she wakes up," his mate told Zander. "All along, I was praising Isabelle for how good Luna she would be to Rain. I should have known," she added, crying. 

"It's not your fault. You don't know the situation. And I'm sure Rain will understand," Zander said, calming his mate before leaving.
