Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Amanda's raised eyebrow welcomed me as I entered our classroom. Most of my classmates are already here. It was expected because our professor in Finance was really a terror.

I ambled towards Amanda who keeps on fixing a bitchy stare on me. When she glared at me from head to toe, I knew immediately what that look was for. I crouched a bit and kissed her on the cheek.

"Good morning." I greeted and put the bag on the chair next to her and sat down. "Camille isn't here yet?"

She turned to me. "On her way," she said and glanced at my legs. "Did you have your uniform repaired?"

I looked at my skirt where half of my thigh was clearly exposed.

"A bit. Is it bad?"

She shot her on fleek bushy brow a bit. "Nope. It's just that you're going to make those men around salivate at you even more. But it makes me wonder why you suddenly did that. I knew you for being conservative, Cheska."

"It's not that short compared to others. The length is just one and a half inches above the knee. And it's you who told me that wearing long skirts makes me look old fashioned, remember?"

"Yes. I said that two months ago, Cheska. Why did it just now?" she interrogated before facing me properly. "Wait a minute. Does it have something to do with Daniel?"

I was suddenly taken aback by her straightforwardness. I shouldn't be surprised that she had a suspicion that it was because of Daniel that I had to change the way I dress. She knew how he insulted me in front of his team mates. But I know for sure that she definitely didn't expect me to focus on that too much.

I was supposed to ignore the things he said against me when we were on the court. But since he came to me personally and asked me to back out made me want to prove him that I'm not that angel he thinks I am!

I leaned back in the chair and took a deep breath.

"Yesterday, when you came home, he talked to me and told me to back down from my decision to be their muse because his team would be embarrassed. He's too harsh, Amanda. No one has ever embarrassed me. I'm not talking about my ego. here as a woman. I just want to prove to her that I'm different."

She blinked her false eyelashes a few times as if she couldn't believe that Daniel would really told me those words.

"He said that? That the team would be embarrassed because of you?"

I nodded. "He did."

"Now, that's foul. He doesn't really like you, eh?Knowing his reputation as a man here on campus, he's really a skirt chaser. He's actually far from his brother."

I turned to her. "He has a brother?"

"Yes. It's Zion Alexander. He's already graduated and he's two years ahead of Daniel. They also got the same course," she explained. "He's also handsome. He seldome smiles. They're both charismatic but unlike Daniel, you rarely see Zion being with a woman. But still, he has that effect that no one could ever resist."

I smiled at her last statement. She's giggling like she can imagine how that Zion can be a monster when it comes to bed.

"You're nonsense!" I whispered to her which made her laugh even more.

"What? I'm serious! Not that Daniel isn't good in bed. I know a nursing student, if I remember it correctly, she had a thing with Daniel. She's a damn kiss and tell because everyone knew what she and Daniel were doing back then. She even told everyone that he did her in the car. At the backseat, sis! The bitch thought there's an earthquake because it's literally shaking inside!" she laughed.

Heat crept on my cheeks as Amanda shamelessly shared about those wild scenes from Daniel. I don’t know but I was be able to imagine the scene inside my head!

I slapped her lightly on the arm. "Too much info, Amanda!"

She stopped from laughing but the shadow of it was still etched on her pink painted lips. "Don't worry, when you experience your first time, these informations will be all normal for you."

Even if I were to experience that, it would never cross my mind to tell other people the private things we will do. It's private and it should be remained between the two of us.

"No wonder if Daniel is like that. It's obvious that he doesn't really know how to be contented. I bet he hasn't been into a serious relationship yet. Always fling, huh?" I said, remembering the scene I witnessed yesterday in the canteen where he and Crisanta were very intimate.

"Yeah. But for sure, the first woman he will take for serious will be very lucky. I can imagine how sweet he is as a boyfriend. He's the type that will do everything for a woman." She said, obviously dreaming.

"You like him?" I asked.

The edge of her lips lifted up. "I don't. I like someone else, Cheska."

I nodded. I thought she like that arrogant person.

"Hi, Ches."

Amanda and I both turned to my side when that voice played in our ears. I found Jandrix standing beside my chair while holding a huge ferrero rocher box. I looked down at the chocolate before ascending my eyes again.

"Y-Yes?" I asked, a bit dumbfounded.

"Uh ... for you." He handed me the chocolate.

I looked at the chocolates again. Jandrix is my classmate. A month after I transferred here, he immediately said that he likes me. Since I didn't prioritize men from the beginning, I made clear to him that he has nothing to expect from me. But here he is.

"Jandrix, I thought I already made myself clear-"

"I know. Just accept this. Please?" he pleaded, the tiny hole beside his lip showed up.

I looked at Amanda. She was already smiling at me, obviously teasing. I feel like she's telling me to get the chocolate because it's just a food. I took a deep breath and turned my attention back to Jandrix.

I smiled a little. His eyes suddenly shimmered with happiness.

"I'll just accept this. But it doesn't mean anything, alright?"

He chuckled manlikely. "Yes, don't worry. I'm not hoping. I just want you to accept that."

When I felt the sincerity through his voice and facial expression, I smiled and nodded. I accepted the chocolate from him.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome," he said gently. "By the way, you look prettier today. You've always been beautiful but ... you're more beautiful now."

"Yiiee! What's that, huh? Flirting in this early morning!" said Camille who had just entered the classroom.

We all looked at her and laughed. She turned to Amanda and me and then looked at Jandrix.

"Thanks again, Jandrix." I said.

He nodded. "All right, I'll be back in my chair now."

He turned his broad back against from us and marched towards his chair. I quickly caught a glimpse of Camille's reaction as she handed me the box of chocolates. She's grinning so bad while staring at it.

"Let's eat this on our lunch!" she said.

Amanda and I looked at each other and just laughed. Time passed quickly. I keep on hearing complaints from Amanda because she could barely keep up with the subjects this morning. She didn't have the chance to get enough sleep because she's out for a night out last night. Camille and I weren't surprised anymore because we're already used to her.

"Damn. Marketing Management is really a pain in the ass!" Amanda laughed as we walked towards the cafeteria.

"You dare to complain that way as if you really listened to the discussion when the truth is, you didn't do anything but to scroll down on social media!" Camille scolded hee.

Amanda burst out laughing. "I don't want to be stressed, you know!"

We entered the cafeteria. I had a glimpse of our usual table and saw that it's vacant. We lined up and ordered food.

"What will you order, Cheska?" Camille asked me.

I looked at the food trays. I stared at the carbonara meal for a while and thought that's all I am going to eat.

"Carbonara, I guess."

She then turned to me. "You're not going to have rice?"

"No. I'm fine with that. Pasta is still carbohydrates."

She grinned. "You're trying to be even more sexy, aren't you? Maybe you've already met someone here on campus."

My face contorted at her nonsense conclusion. "No. You should have known if there's someone."

We sat down in our seats. Before we could even start eating, Camille and Amanda took a picture of it and posted on their Instagram.

From the entrance of the cafeteria, I saw a group of men entering the doorway. Even though I only met them yesterday they were already familiar to me. I was still looking at them when one of the varsity players accidentally met my eyes. A smile blossomed on his lips and then turned to his teammates to whisper something.

I held my breath when all of them glanced at my way. They walked towards our direction.

"Hi, girls! Can we share your table?" one of them said.

I looked at Amanda and Camille. They're both looking at them and smiled.

"Sure!" Camille replied.

"Alright!" They sat down in front of us.

Each table in the cafeteria is spacious. It can load up to ten person so I'm not surprised that we all fit in here. This is actually the first time that a group of men joined us.

"How are you, Cheska? I hope you didn't change your mind yet," a man with narrowed eyes said before extending his hand to me. "I'm Bryle, by the way."

I sipped the iced tea I was drinking and smiled at him. I accepted his hand and he gently gripped it.

"Hi. Don't worry, I'm true to my words."

"I'm sorry about Daniel yesterday, Cheska. He's just in a foul mood. He probably had a fight with his girlfriend." a man with a tan complexion commented.

They had? I don't think it's the reason since Crisanta even wiped his sweat during timeout. That's totally nonsense. "It's alright. No harm done." I said.

I felt conscious when most of the men were staring at me.

"Cheska might melt because of your stares..." Amanda said sarcastically.

The players quickly pulled away and stood up.

"Right. We have to order now. Can you please save this spot for us?" Bryle asked, eyes fixed on Amanda.

"Yes, sure!"

When they left I was slightly poked by Camille's arm. I turned to hee innocently.

"They were all staring at you!"

"Huh?" I tried to be humble.

She giggled. It's five minutes later when the boys came back. But what caught my attention was Daniel who's now with them! His intimidating eyes immediately bore into mine.

"Let's just sit here, Daniel. There's no more vacant table anyway. This is also a good chance to get along with Cheska and know her more. She's our muse and she has to be comfortable with us." Bryle told Daniel whose eyes were on me.

He averted his gaze from me and then sat across me. My grip on the fork unconsciously tightened. I'm not sure why. It's either I'm still irritated towards him or because ... I felt tensed by his presence.

"Where's Calix, Daniel?" his teammate asked.

"Girlfriend."

If I'm not mistaken, it's the Calix I collided with earlier in the parking lot. They're together this morning so I assumed that it's the same Calix they're talking about.

Daniel ate quietly, not participating much in the conversation of his other companions. I slowly took a bite of my sandwich while secretly glancing at him. He had smooth flawless skin, which was like a sheet of well done cloth. His jet black eyes, which was under his black short messy hair, was glistening under the bright lights. He had high-bridged nose that was among his two eyes. His soft sharp lips were very attractive and captivating and a prominent jaw curved gracefully around and the strength of his neck showed in the twining cords of muscle that shaped his upper body.

He had the kind of face that stopped women in their tracks. I guess he's already used to that, the sudden pause in a person's natural expression when they looked his way.

He is ... Adonis.

I hurriedly glanced back to my plate when he looked up in my direction. I tried to act normal like he didn't catch me gawking at him.

"Oh my gosh, Cheska! There's my crush!" Amanda slighy screamed as I turned to her.

I saw her looking at the entrance. I looked over there, even the players looked behind them as well. Daniel was the only one who did not pay attention as if he was not interested. He focused his eyes on me, instead. He's aware that I can see him looking at me but he doesn't seem to care.

I all of a sudden saw a tall and fair man entering the cafeteria with his cold and snobbish demeanor. The way he walk screams authority with a little bit of playfulness. His hands were inside his pockets.

"Theus Serrano?" Bryle asked.

"Yes! You know him?" Amanda asked excitedly.

"Yeah. He's an engineering student. That's Daniel's brother's friend."

"I really like him. I've had a crush on him for a long time but I heard that he already has a girlfriend."

"If I'm not mistaken, his girlfriend is studying at another school. Her name is Krisma."

"It doesn't matter! Amanda is better than her name!"

The men laughed but I was just quietly consuming my food which I could barely swallow because of the eyes staring at me.

"Cheska, I hope you don't mind. But is your hair natural? Or, did you just curl it?"

I looked at the player next to Bryle. I don't know his name yet because he rarely speaks. That question stole everyone's attention and it made me feel conscious.

"It's natural. I got this from my mother." I said.

Admiration sparkled in their eyes while looking at my curly hair.

"Only few can rock that kind of hair. And you're one of them, Ches." Bryle complimented.

I smiled. "Thanks."

"Do you have a sister, Cheska?" One of their team mates asked.

"Yes, she's studying on another school. First year college, same course."

"Surely, she's also beautiful like you. What's her name?"

"Adrianna Grace ..."

"Nice name." Bryle said I just replied him with a light smile.

I accidentally looked at Daniel. I caught him staring at my lips. I swallowed as he raised his eyes to me. He shot his brow up as if he's asking me why I am staring at him.

You have been the one who keeps on staring at me since you came here. Did I raise my eyebrow on you?

I cleared my throat and tried to loosen up. "Excuse me. I just have to buy a bottled water."

"I can buy you, Cheska." Bryle and the guy beside him said in chorus.

"Let me. I have to buy something for later anyway. the other one uttered.

"Hoo! Relax, guys!" Camille laughed.

"Uh, no. It's okay. I'm-"

My speech was interrupted when a bottle of water was placed in front of me. It's still sealed. My gaze automatically bore on Daniel. He locked eyes with me and I see just how deep they really are. They're like raging fire in the middle of a dark forest, hard rain on petals and a thunder roaring in the black stormy night.

"Take mine. I'll buy another one for me." he said coldly before leaving our table.
