There is little talking in the car throughout the lengthy and silent trip.

After seven hours of uninterrupted sleep, Lyra becomes restless. Her phone amuses her for a while, but eventually, she turns to Andreas.

"So, how much longer will it be until we arrive?" At last, she blurts out, shattering the quiet with her voice and giving the front-row driver a slight scare.
