Chapter 6 weather overcast

Chapter 6 weather overcast

Andreas POV

After a little eerie stillness, Alpha Andreas nods and gets to his feet.

He extends his hand for a handshake and murmurs, "Alpha Wilcott if you could get that paperwork done, I'll have it approved within the hour."

York nods as well as gives it a solid shake.

He answers in an equally kind and soothing voice, "I'll get it done and sent over," getting up from his seat.

Lyra stands up as she observes this conversation.

"I can visit your area tomorrow," she says sternly.

Andreas chuckles and shakes his head.

"You're not foolish, Wilcott. My guards are almost arriving, so I'll wait for you here. "I was going to be with them, but I went outside to stretch my legs and was attacked by someone," he teasingly says, attempting to make her grin.

She smiles a little at him and finishes her water before setting the glass in the sink.

She says, "I'll need an hour maybe to pack, if that's okay," and promptly gives a dog-like headshake.

She disappears up the steps, walking quickly yet soundlessly.

"Is she okay?" In a low voice, Andreas inquires, "Because I can't take her if she'll lash out randomly and kill someone in my pack."

York looks at him, a little taken aback.

She wouldn't murder someone, though. Try to reassure him, "Maim them a little, but not unprovoked." "But she's alright. She always has a rough day when the weather is overcast.

Andreas laughs a little and shakes his head.

"It's never cloudy where my pack is," he eventually says, looking at York in shock for a minute or two.

Andreas says, nodding at York, "It's nice to meet you - I've only ever heard of you once or twice, which is good - it means you're a good Alpha."

York says with a feeble smile, "Oh, well, I've heard plenty about you, mostly good," and suddenly feels quite uncomfortable.

Lyra rushes into her upstairs bedroom, removing many outfits from her chest of drawers.

They say it's only for a week, but as she packs twenty-four sets of underpants, she supposes you can never be too prepared. She nods, satisfied, and puts on jeans after adding the same number of socks.

Though it hasn't occurred yet, she's waiting for her wolf to come out and ask her what's happening.

She has a lot of inquiries of her own. She knows that her father was attempting to be supportive, but she finds it unbelievable that he didn't discuss this with her before acting on it. Usually, he would have been very supportive of her and acknowledged that she didn't honestly want someone because it would just serve to remind her of the things she was unable to have.

It would appear that he was not understanding.

It was evident that he was acting in his own best interests, but when had that ever served her, she pondered.

It could be a good idea to leave her pack, she thought to herself. It would be good if the West had some sunshine. She will experience more terrible days than pleasant ones in the future months because it is becoming colder here.

She nods, a working vacation. She hadn't visited a beach in years and wasn't particularly interested in going because she detested the heat and sand. However, there could be a beach nearby.

Sonya snorts. Anywhere except here is a vacation.

Keeping that idea in mind, she fills her room with every sunscreen she can find and puts three bikinis in the first case.

She is startled out of her packing frenzy by a tap on the door. She hurriedly looks up, walks to the door, and opens it to reveal a short woman carrying a suitcase.

She says, "Oh, hello," as she frantically tries remembering the woman's name. She had personally detailed her to the border patrol. Elizabeth? Emily? Emmy?

Without a doubt, it was Emmy.

"Good day, Deputy. She grins and hands Avery the bag, saying, "Here are the boots you requested we find and return to you."

Lyra brightens at her, her day made brighter by the reappearance of her favourite footwear.

She yells, "Thank you so much," and chases after the guard.

Even though she is travelling to a much brighter climate, she nevertheless packs the boots. At last, they were at ease, and she was determined not to miss it.

After gathering as many outfits as possible, she heads to the restroom to retrieve her razor box and cosmetics for her skin and hair.

If you think that packing too much is a good thing, then she's very adept at this packing thing.

She packs for over a month in less than thirty minutes, giving her room a thorough inspection, tossing in her phone chargers, then dashing to her office to retrieve her laptop and any essential documents.

She flattens the folders and ensures that no paper is destroyed as she stuffs them in on top of her outfits.

She finishes packing her luggage and drops them off in the hallway before making a mad dash to the orphanage.

She knocks loudly, and when her aunt opens the door, she pulls her into a firm embrace.

Startled, Faye attempts to move away until she recognizes her niece, at which point she throws her arms around her.

Lyramumbles, holding her aunt firmly, "I know you didn't want to tell me. I'm the one who pushed, and I'm sorry for getting angry and running out,""I'm heading off for a week or two of training in the West. You may need to assist York in containing the damage as my mother is angry with Dad."

Raising an eyebrow, Faye kisses her niece's cheek without questioning what she was taught.

She chastises her niece, pointing out her niece's shorts and t-shirt, saying, "You're certainly dressed for the West; I don't know how you didn't catch frostbite. It's 9 pm; you should be in your pyjamas at night."

Lyra Giggles at her aunt, scoffing at her antiquated practices.

She calls, "I have to go. I love you," and sprints back to her house.

York is waiting for her as she opens the door and appears to be quite perplexed until he realises that she is with Faye.

She grins, "I just need to change, and I'll be ready to go," she hops up the stairs.

"Do you want me to get Mom and Dad so you can say goodbye?" With a raised eyebrow, he shouts out to her.

"Yes, mom. She mentally contacts him, saying, "I'll talk to Dad when I get to the West. I need to calm down before I speak to him; I don't want to be unduly mean." She swiftly goes into her bedroom and changes into her cosiest jumper and her pyjama pants, which she purposefully forgot to pack.

She grabs her purse, slides her feet into her blue sneakers, and dashes back down the steps, joyfully landing on the floor after the fourth and last flight.

Marie hugs and squeezes her as she says hello.

She whispers, "You take care of yourself over there," before moving to the mental connection and saying, "Don't get yourself into too much trouble."

Lyra squirms out of her strong embrace and smiles, "I love you, Mom," before racing to join Alpha Andreas in the waiting black vehicle.
