Lyra nods, digesting the information quickly and then staring at him intently for him to continue.

"I found a genetic link in some cases, but not many. There seems to be a recessive gene, but we can single that out, and I believe we are gradually breeding it out of the species," he explains quickly, his face lighting up as he talks about his work excitedly. Lyra must stop smiling at how happy he looks as he explains this.
