Edwin serves dinner, which consists of stuffed potatoes and shrimp pasta. He serves himself and takes a seat. I take the first bite.

Nikki: This is really delicious, love.

Edwin: I'm glad you like it, love.

We start to eat quietly while discussing everything that has happened to us during this time—some good things and some not-so-good things. But now, it doesn't matter because we are together.

Dinner proceeds pleasantly, filled with conversation and jokes. Edwin gets up from the table to go to the kitchen for something. When he returns, he brings two ice cream sundaes. He hands one to me.

Nikki: Thank you.

Edwin: You're welcome, but...
