I'm bracing myself for the worst, but nothing happens. Slowly, I open my eyes. Mateo is nowhere in sight; instead, I see surprised faces around me. I scan the area until I spot Mateo a distance away. I wonder how he got there; did Edwin defend me? But Edwin is still where he was before, staring at me intently.

Judith - There's nothing to see here, so everyone just go about your business.

Agustín - Please, just continue with what you were doing.

I start walking toward Edwin to check on him, but he backs away, avoiding my approach. It stings, and I'm not sure why. I step back...
