Chapter 4

Chapter 4

From the second he wrapped his hands around my little waist until the second he grasped my hand, sending electric shocks up my shoulders, everything occurred so quickly. Before the proprietors of the sounds found us, he dragged me from the dining room. Ignoring the shocked looks we received, he hurried me through the bustling kitchen and out the back door of the home. I couldn't even think straight anymore, so I didn't have time to worry about what may happen as a result of my actions.

As I trailed behind him, his aroma intoxicated me and made my brain feel like it was floating in a cloud. As we entered the woods and the house was soon behind us, I saw that his shoulders, which I had no idea were stiff, had relaxed. He then started to take more leisurely steps before coming to a stop.

As soon as he turned to face me, the gleam in his eyes ignited my face. Knowing it would be humiliating and that I was flushing crimson, I bent my head. He drew up my face and gently touched my jawline with two fingers before gazing deeply into my eyes. I was certain he was going to kiss me at this moment, but what he said stunned me even more.

"How have you been hiding from me?"

I couldn't make sense of what he was saying, so I scowled in perplexity.

"Where have you been all this time?" His eyes briefly lit up with agony, but they quickly vanished as if they had never been there.

I was now perplexed as he seemed to be attempting to maintain control by sighing. Was he trying to find me? At first, I was unsure of what to do or say, but what I ended up doing astonished me even more. With my brain in the correct place, there was no way I could have done it.

I embraced him. I pressed my burning face on his honed chest. He became rigid, possibly from shock.

I quietly whispered, "I'm here now," attempting to console him. It seemed to work, as his face rested on my head and he gave me a hug in return.

I instantly realized that I had lost. also my rational self. I was aware that I would go to any lengths to make him happy, wipe his cares from his brows, and be by him in times of need. I was certain that I wanted to be at his side and nowhere else for him.

Was this the end of my story? I had to ask myself that while I was still in his hug. I had seen the lives of many she-wolves change when they found their mates, and it seemed that something similar was about to happen to me. For the first time ever, I felt safe, protected, and loved as I grinned contentedly in his arms.

.......

We were holding hands and grinning as we strolled into the woodland a little time later as if we had known one another for a very long time. I saw he was still looking at me when I looked up at him, and I flushed.

"Your hair....." His voice was deep, and it said. "Is it natural?"

The idea that someone else had wondered how much thicker than water blood is previously made me grin. I raised my eyebrows, "It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." I hid my lips as he said it so I wouldn't flush any more than I already did. He laughed at my attempt, and I certainly enjoyed the sound of it.

"I'm called Eric. However, you are already aware of that as you have been deliberately keeping quiet.

He charged

I spoke out after being somewhat taken aback by his statements. Although they may not have meant the same thing to us, I knew they were accurate.

"What is your name?"

I said "Silveen," as flushing had started to take the form of an uncontrollable facial response.

"A name as beautiful as you, my love."

Did he just refer to me as his love? I questioned myself as my giddiness grew. His subsequent query brought me to my senses.

"Why have you been hiding from me?"

I responded, almost too fast for my own good, "I haven't," and he smiled broadly as he clearly observed my attempt.

I was ashamed to say in a hushed voice, "I only joined this pack a few days ago.

He browsed up and said, "Oh.

He stopped walking and turned to me, kneeling a bit to be at eye level with me. "How's that even possible, you becoming a member of my pack without my knowledge," he murmured.

"..... when I am the alpha."

When he stated that, I grinned at the pride in his voice. Since he was a natural-born leader who would stop at nothing to keep his pack safe, I had always known that he was the Alpha. No one else could project the same air of power that he did.

"Why would you be informed when nobody like me is about to join your pack".

"Well, that nobody is my mate," he continued, staring at me.

"An omega, I am. a Lady Freya's maid. As I bowed my head, I said.

"My cousin?" "Yeah. Now what? Is Lady Freya your relative? I questioned as I gaped in shock at him.

"Yes, she is." Before starting to walk again with his hands now folded behind him, he added, grinning and playingfully fluffing my hair.

I scowled and hurriedly put my hair in place before chasing after him. He remained quiet as we continued to walk. I turned to look at him, but he was wearing a stern expression and a growing frown.

Was it a mistake for me to inform him of my situation so soon? Why did he start to hush? Was he unhappy with it? Would he turn me down because I was a maid? As we went, I asked myself numerous questions. I continued looking at his face as mine too started to alter. I understood that I would probably not make it through if he rejected me.

I bent my head, dejectedly unaware that we were returning to Eric's house since I was engrossed in my own thoughts. I saw the house in front of us when he stopped and I glanced up. My stomach dropped.

He wasn't claiming me; he was sending me back to where I belonged.

"It seems our date has been cut short by my duties." I recognized he had been mind-linking someone when he remarked while grinning at me. I exhaled with satisfaction. I wasn't aware that I was holding.

"I would adore seeing you here once again. He continued, addressing my concerns, "What do you say we meet tomorrow," and he stepped closer to me, pulling a hair from my eyes.

"I have to attend to some things at the moment."

He instantly left me when I nodded in response, hurriedly making his way towards the hamlet. I gave him some time to withdraw before feeling abandoned as I entered the kitchen.

Even though there were fewer ladies in the kitchen, everyone was still busy with their tasks. I seized the chance to have a peek around the kitchen. the large cauldrons and fireplace, which were undoubtedly used to prepare the family's meals, it had the appearance of a typical kitchen.

"Silveen" . When Mathilda signaled for me to come to her, I instantly turned after hearing my name to see her.

What have you been doing? Lady Freya has been anticipating your arrival.

I realized I had been there with my mistress at that point. She was in the way as I entered the dining room, which was now adorned with various foods in preparation for the arrival of the guests. I hurried into the corridor and saw lLadyFreya and Luna Misheal; a third woman was now standing next to them.

She seemed to be my age or maybe older. She was tall and had an athletic frame; almost too masculine for my taste. Except for the haughty expression in her eyes, which gave me the willies, she didn't stand out in any way.

When Luna Misheal exclaimed, "Ah, there you are," the other women turned to face me. Before I bowed to the Luna, though, I caught a glimpse of Lady Freya's beaming grin when she first spotted me. Was she only fond of me or did she think I was attractive? Though I did roll my eyes at the latter offer, I couldn't help but wonder.

She continued, "I was starting to worry, Silveen.

"I'm sorry my lady, I seem to have gotten lost." I relaxed and lay down.

"She's always had a thing with the forest". I furrowed my eyebrows in response to Lady Freya's comment, wondering how she knew I had entered the woodland. Did she know with whom I went?

"Don't we all," remarked Luna Michael.

You must not have met Layla, the future Luna Misheal said. "She's the Alpha's bride-to-be."

They all saw as I gazed at her helplessly that my heart fell and that my face undoubtedly seemed pale. My actions caused Luna Misheal to scowl, and Lady Freya shuffled uneasily.

Eric had already selected someone to be his Luna, and I was certain she was from a reputable household. I blinked again and turned my head away, feeling as if I was starting to see why he had been frazzled when he first saw me. Could it be that he would leave her for a slave like me?

"Now let's go out. Lady Freya remarked, breaking the uneasy pause that had developed between us, "Luna," and she then started to walk away. I glanced at Layla before following her because I could see that she was staring at me with a deathly expression in her eyes. If anything, I was aware. I had turned myself into a foe.
