I was sitting on the floor of my nearly empty apartment with the final notice in my hand when the knock came.
Three sharp knocks. Not the tentative kind the building manager used, or the hurried kind from the few friends I still had. These were controlled and certain. I stayed still for a second, hoping whoever it was would leave. The knock came again, harder.
