Chapter 6 I'm taking my wife home

Chapter 6 I'm taking my wife home

“What am I doing here? I am the one who should ask you this question, wifey,” Warren responded, a smirk curving on his lips.

“Keep your voice down. Who is your wife? As far as I know, we divorced five years ago, Mr. Warren, and I'll appreciate it if you respect that.“ Audra reminded him while looking around.

Luckily, everyone was minding their own business, and they hadn't eavesdropped on their conversation at all.

Warren pressed his lips into thin lines when Audra referred to him as a mister.

What happened to Warren? As far as he could go back, he could picture her calling him Warren in the sweetest voice ever, wanting to please him.

He stared into her eyes, wanting to see if she had made a mistake, but he couldn't read her. Her eyes were cold, and she hid all the emotions in a sea that he couldn't plunge into.

The Audra he knew five years ago was like an open book. He could read all her emotions and what was going through her head without any problems.

Five years is really a lot for someone to change. Warren thought to himself while shoving his hands deep into his pockets.

Five years…

Five years ago, she disappeared from his life, leaving no trace of her behind. He did all he could while searching for her.

He used his power, money, and fame, but she was nowhere to be seen.

How could you be so heartless?

He wanted to ask her but refrained himself. After she left, he understood the feelings he had for her. He didn't hate her like he thought; in fact, she was what he had been looking for so long.

Those five years were long for him, and he kept on wandering aimlessly, hoping that one day he'd stumble upon her, take her in his arms, and bring her back home.

What he never expected was to stumble upon her as a totally different person who couldn't hide the resentment she harbored toward him.

Pulling himself back into reality, Warren asked her, “Why should I keep my voice down? Aren't you my wife? How could you leave me for five years and then come back unannounced?“

“Tsk!“ Audra clicked her tongue, a mocking chuckle escaping her lips. “Leave you, you ask? I'll remind you again in case you've forgotten, Mr. Warren. We are D.I.V.O.R.C.E.D., and for leaving and coming back, it's all none of your business. Dream City is not yours, is it?“

Warren swallowed painfully. He clenched his fists and swept his gaze over her. “We aren't divorced. I didn't sign the papers.“

Audra, who was planning to walk away from there, froze. He didn't sign the papers, but how?

Wasn't he so eager to get rid of her when Cathy came back?

“There are some conditions regarding a divorce, Mr. Warren. We've been living apart for over five years now, so the court will automatically grant you a divorce since I already signed the agreement. So now, if you could excuse me...

Warren blocked Audra when she attempted to leave. Before he could tell her what he wanted, a ginger-brown lady wearing a three-piece black business suit approached him.

“I can see you've already met each other.“ The woman said, stairing between the two of them. When none of them responded, the lady continued, “Mr. Warren, this is Audra Priel, the new face of Future, and Audra, meet Mr. Warren, the new investor in our brand. I told you about him already.“

Audra looked between the lady and Warren. Since when did he start investing in jewelry brands?

She thought she knew him like the back of her hand, but she was totally wrong.

She just realized that she knew nothing about him with the amount of surprises he was giving her.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Warren.“ Audra responded indifferently with a bored and disgusted expression that made Warren's heart ache.

Audra didn't bother to tell the woman that he knew Warren. In their five years of marriage, Warren never told anyone about her. It was only people from upper-class society who knew she was his wife.

Since he was disgusted by her and couldn't tell anyone about her, Audra thought it would be better if she left their relationship in the darkness it was in.

Also, she no longer had anything to do with him, so why clarify their relationship?

"I'll leave you two to chat." Audra excused herself and went looking for manager Rose.

* * *

“Looking for me?“ A familiar voice asked when Audra started going back to the shooting location when she missed finding Rose.

“Manager Rose, how do you know I was looking for you?“ She asked, walking closer to her.

“I figured. You have been looking for a chance to talk to me.“ She shruggled.

Audra stood beside her, chewing on her lower lip. Looking at her face at the moment, manager Rose seemed like she was no longer mad at her, but still, she couldn't be sure. Gathering enough confidence, she said, “I just wanted to apologize about yesterday.“

Rose chuckled. “I am not angry.“

“What? But you..“

She cut her off. “I was Audra, but not anymore. I know your life is tough. With your kid, your job trying to maintain your reputation, and whatever you're going through that you don't want to tell me about, I figured sneaking out to have a few drinks is normal to you since you are trying to run away from reality.“

“Thanks for understanding.“ Audra responded, a sigh of relief escaping her lips. She had been cracking her brain, trying to see how she would make Rose forgive her.

“So, you and Warren. What's going on with you two? How long have you known each other?“

The question froze Audra. How did Rose know about them? As if she were reading her mind, Rose continued, “The way you two were interacting, it's obvious you know each other.“

Right, Mrs. Observer! Audra wanted to say that but kept quiet. She had known manager Rose for five years, so of course she was going to figure out their interaction at a glance.

“Manager Rose, I...”

“You don't have to tell me if you don't want to talk about it. Tell me when you are ready, okay?“ She reached for her shoulder and squeezed it gently. “Go back to the hotel and rest for now. Remember, you still have a long day ahead of you.“

Excusing herself from there, Audra went back to the location and packed her things. After telling the director and the other staff that she was leaving, she made her way to the parking lot.

“Mrs. Warren.“ A voice called her from behind.

Who's that son of a b*tch? Audra thought while looking over her shoulder, only to see Fernando. “Mr. Fernando, I divorced Mr. Warren five years ago. I no longer go with that title.“ She reminded him.

“My apologies, Mrs. Warren. Mr. Warren is waiting for you in his car.“ He responded, clearly indicating he wasn't letting go of the title.

“Ask him to mind his business. I have nothing to do with him.“ She coldly responded, making her way to her car.

Before she could climb into the driver's seat, a strong force held the car's door. With annoyance pressing into her voice, she turned around to face the person.

“What do you want, Mr. Warren?“ She asked.

Shamelessly, Warren responded, “Isn't it obvious? I am taking my wife home.“
