Chapter 6

Chapter 6

My Aunt and I were still talking in the kitchen as the dish was being prepared.

"I understand, Auntie, as long as you like him. It's not a problem for me," I said with a smile.

"Are you sure? " She asked me a question, then looked at me for a few moments to make sure I was telling the truth.

"Of course, Aunt, be content and enjoy life to the fullest, and don't be swayed by negativity.  And uncle David is a wonderful man, I adore him for you." I advised.

"Thank you for your understanding, Zcharina. You're the best," aunt said with a tear in her eye.

"OK, our food has already been prepared, and aunt, please inform your boyfriend to come to the kitchen.  What kind of girlfriend are you, Aunt, if you leave him there?" I remarked jokingly.

"Whatever," she says as she walks into the living room. A few minutes later, the lovers walk into the kitchen. Uncle David, on the other hand, smiled from ear to ear and commented.

"You're the best cook, It's just a smell, but I know it tastes good."

"Thank you, Uncle," I smiled.

"All right, let's take a seat and get started; I know you're both hungry," I said.

Then uncle gets a seat for aunt, which amazes me because they are such sweet people.

I began arranging the food on the table. Uncle also put food on Aunt's plate. I recall a time when my parents acted in this manner. My father's love for my mother is incredible. Later on, we eat quietly because no one wants to start a conversation because they are also hungry. The long silence is finally broken when uncle David speaks up.

"Is it okay with you if I stay here? Don't worry, it's only for the time being. Because your Aunt thinks it's a good idea if I buy a new house for us," he explained with a friendly smile.

My aunt stated that living in the same house as her ex-husband, who had lived here for how many years, would be very awkward for her new spouse. Uncle is aware of the situation as well. I'm sure he can afford a mansion. And, perhaps more strangely, why am I included in their stay if they ever buy a new house? His tone is rudimentary, but he is certain that aunt will spend the rest of her life with him. My aunt is extremely fortunate.

"Uncle, you are welcome to stay here if my aunt so desires.  Her decisions are significant.  Don't worry, the place is great; you can live here in peace," I said.

"As long as your aunt is with me, there's no problem with a situation like this, Zcharina.  Even though we live in a jungle, everything is alright and perfect."

"You're talking sweets, Douglas, and we're still eating. And you bother her while she's eating, you had all the time in the world to speak after eating," Aunt remarked.

"It's all right, Auntie," I reassured her.

Now that we've finished eating, I've announced that I'll be doing the dishes.  Also, because we never run out of food. I put it in the refrigerator to keep it from sharpening. I finished my duties in the kitchen and went straight to my room to lie down because I had been exhausted all day.

That's what the guy said. I don't want to go back to that office. Despite the fact that I was well prepared at the time, the interview never took place because the efficient CEO was soundly sleeping during work hours. I've already given up on applying again. The living room is deserted, so I'm not sure where my aunt went.

I didn't even enter her room. I've been seeing my aunt's face a lot lately. She is so upbeat and energetic that no sadness can stay with her. It's a good thing I'm not overthinking things anymore. I'm enjoying the peace and quiet in my room right now, and I don't want to be interrupted by a knock on the door. But I wasn't mistaken because the door was rapped on. It was only a minute ago. I had a hunch it was aunt.

"Zcharina, come out; we're having a sweet snack in the living room." "Come along with us," Aunt suggested.

"No, Aunt, I'm sorry, but I'm tired right now. Maybe next time." I responded to her.

"Don't say no, we haven't had a bonding session in a long time. No one will bother you later while you're sleeping. But for the time being, come with us, but change your clothes first."

"Indeed, Aunt."

Aunt yelled, "Hurry up, we're waiting!" All I do is comply with her request. I changed my clothes, went outside, and then into the living room. Then uncle David spoke up.

"Sit down and eat something sweet."

"Sit down and eat something sweet.  There are pizzas, cakes, carbonara, macaroni, and salads to choose from.  I sat down and ordered a slice of pizza.

"I tried to stop your aunt from waking you up, Zcharina, but she insisted," Uncle said.

"Just leave her alone, uncle; I'm not even asleep when she knocks," I joked.

"Aunt can be obstinate at times," Aunt said as she tossed a pillow at me, which landed on my face.

"By the way, do you have any work right now?"  I put down my fork in response to Uncle David's question.

"I'm unemployed, Uncle, but I have a college diploma in secretarial," Uncle says, nodding.

"All right, do you intend to apply for a job? Uncle was mentioned as well.

" Yes, Uncle, but for the time being, I'd like to remain unemployed. My first priority right now is to find a boyfriend." I made a witty remark to them.

My aunt rolled her eyes, knowing I wasn't ready for a boyfriend just yet.

“You don’t have a girlfriend? Why is that? Uncle was taken aback when he found out.

“ Isn’t it odd that I don’t have a boyfriend these days, uncle?" I inquired about him.

“Of course, even teenagers these days have their own guy. They can find a boyfriend at an early age. What about you? You haven’t got any of it. Are you joking or what?" Uncle speaks in a jumbled manner.

“Of course not, Uncle ,I’m telling the truth. I don’t have a boyfriend.” I admitted.

“Don’t make her admit there isn’t one, even when she was still in college. I'm not sure what happened to that woman; she had no appeal to men or perhaps she despises all males she meets, or perhaps she’s too picky.Perhaps she doesn’t want to meet a boyfriend; maybe she prefers to grow old alone.”

“Darling, you injured your niece feelings by saying too much to her. She's still in her twenties, so she can catch up.”

“I’m simply stating the obvious, Zcharina is used to my demeanor, I’m like this all the time, but I adore her. I’m always concerned about her future.” Aunt told Uncle.

Because of my Aunt stated. I was relieved to learn that even though my parents were no longer alive, there is someone who loves me right now.

“Thank you, Aunt, I love you so much, you can count on me, Zcharina,” Aunt smiled.

I suddenly remembered the topless sleeping handsome CEO I met. Because of our topic I remember him again.

The interview will never take place as a result of his sleeping habits. I'm annoyed, but remembering him made my day brighter. He's delicious even though he's in his forties. If my father was still alive today, he might have chastised me for having feelings for a man his age. Is it bad to like someone who is older than me these days? I'm sure it's not. But I'm curious if he's a family man. My daydreaming has concluded. I laughed as I recalled how, after the office incident, that man had given me a sleepless night when his face and body appeared in my dream. Then I lost sight of my aunt, who was sitting right in front of me.

"Are you all right, Zcharina? your smiling , don't tell me you're going insane, and stop making up stories. You're terrifying," Aunt remarked amusingly. Then Uncle comes in.

"All right, Zcharina, we're going somewhere; if you want to join us, feel free," Uncle said.

"No, Uncle. Maybe next time."

"Are you certain? So, Zcharina, we leave you alone here. It would have been better if you had joined us."  Uncle said.

"My neighbor is close by, and if anything happens, I can shout at any time," I replied.

"All right, Zcharina," Aunt said as she brought her luggage.

"Look after yourself. Just make sure the door is securely closed. If you have any questions, please contact me." They then walked away.

After locking all the doors, I went to my room. I get up early in the morning because her stomach hurts and she thinks her monthly period is coming. I go into the kitchen and drink a glass of water to relieve my stomach pain. But it didn't go away, so I went to a nearby store to get some medicine. I'm sure my aunt and uncle David never went home at night. So I changed into a more appropriate outfit and went outside. I buy noodles and stomach medicine for breakfast. I didn't feel like eating anything substantial this morning.

I was on my way home when I noticed a woman in her fifties staring at me. She had a girl child in her hand. The child was about four years old and was sweating because they had traveled a long distance and didn't even have an umbrella with them.

"Good morning, we're here for Rebecca . Do you have any kinship with her?

Instead, I did not respond to her question.

"Come in first, and then we'll talk."

By opening the gate, I let them in. The child then grabbed my hand, and as she grinned at me, I stared at her. We entered the house, and I forced them to sit in the living room by offering them a drink. I've brought a wiping towel and powder into the living room, and I'm going to wipe the kid down because she appears sweaty I ap. The woman accompanying the towel simply stared at us after I covered it around her back.

I went into the kitchen after taking care of the child to make them some breakfast. I knew they were hungry, so it was a blessing that there was still some food left, which I simply heated. When I got warmed up, I took it to the living room. When I looked at the child's face, her eyes widened at the meal. I felt sorry for the child's reaction. I had a feeling this kid wasn't getting enough nutrients. I hadn't put the food I was carrying down when the child picked it up, and the female companion may have noticed and tapped the child's hand hard.
