The leader of the Solar Crown Pack turned out to be surprisingly young, with a doll-like face that resembled Kay's. Jesse, compared to his father, seemed more mature.

"Are you Alice?" he asked, his gaze showing a hint of surprise. He approached me naturally, and though I usually welcomed kindness from strangers, this physical closeness filled me with fear.

I nodded and then hid behind Jesse.
