CHAPTER FOUR

E M E R A L D

Although the company was big and beautiful, it was also very confusing because everything looks the same.

It took me sometime before I was finally able to locate the door I was meant to find.

A smooth wooden door with a glass name plate which read recruitment.

I gently knocked on the door and a coarse voice gave me confirmation to enter. I arranged my hair and dusted invisible dust from my skirt before carefully opening the door.

"Good morning sir." I greeted courteously with a warm smile on my face.

"You're late," The middle aged man thundered. "Even your file got to me before you did." He lifted up the file I had dropped at the reception earlier.

"I'm sorry sir, I got a little confused." I apologized.

"If you can't even figure out this location how do you think you'll be able to keep up with Mister Castriel?" He questioned.

" Well sir, I h-"

" Take a seat, quit standing so awkwardly." He ordered and I took a seat directly opposite him.

" Now answer the previous question."

"I am highly capable of handling tasks sir, I'm also good at multitasking and even physical work."

" Do you make coffee?"

" Yes!"

" Work the photocopying machine?"

" Yes!"

" Transfer phonecalls?"

" Yes!"

" Do you have any kids?"

" No!"

" Are you married?"

My fast answering pace stopped, causing the man to move his eyes from my file to my facial expression.

" Uh- No sir." I answered calmly.

"Working directly under Mister Castriel takes a lot of time and energy, there are days you might work overtime and also days you might go on impromptu trips. Are you still interested?"

I nodded.

" Your resume is good, you seem pretty energetic and I like that. The only thing is I feel you majorly feel confused but that can be fixed. Okay then, you're hired." The man smiled at me.

" Thank you sir! Thank you." I appreciated with a grin plastered on my face.

"Let's see how long you last." He muttered to himself.

" Sorry?"

" Nothing! Please return to the reception, Tania will brief you on everything else." He quickly replied and I exited his office.

I returned to be the reception but I had zero clue who Tania was so I decided to ask Stacey instead.

"Welcome to Castriel Constructions!" Stacey beamed.

Now I see why she's the receptionist here, her aura is so welcoming and nice.

"Thank you! I'm looking for Tania? I was directed to her from the recruitment office."

" Tania? I thought you were friends with her because I saw her talking to you earlier."

" The one that spoke to me earlier was Tania? I had no clue."

" That's odd. Well Tania is in charge of staffs so I guess that's why Mister Ross asked you to see her. Her office is the one next to the elevator."

" Thank you."

They've really got an office for everything here.

I located Tania's office and entered after knocking first.

"You're welcome to Castriel Constructions Rochelle." Tania congratulated.

" Thank you." I nodded.

" Well, first I'd like you to know working directly under Mister Castriel can be frustrating but the monthly check makes up for all the stress. Secondly, I'll inform someone to give you a tour of the company and then, Mister Castriel's office is on the fourth floor which is where your office is as well. You come to the office by eight, you close when your boss is done with work, you work five times a week unless your boss requires you to work more than than that. I should also warn you that your boss is a little bit grumpy but it's not that bad." Tania explained while I took mental notes.

" Tony please step into my office." Tania said into a machine while holding a big red button down.

We stood in silence for what felt like forever but was merely two minutes before the door behind me opened to reveal one of the guys from the outside in a security guard uniform.

His hair was brown and curly while his skin was caramel colored. He had the same smile he had when I walked into the reception earlier.

"This is Tony," Tania informed me while pointing at him. "Tony, please show our newest member around the company, she is working directly with Mister Castriel and you know how he gets when someone doesn't know their way round the company." She completed.

" This way miss." Tony directed and I followed him.

" Thank you Tania." I smiled one more time at her before exiting her office.

Tony and I left Tania's office and made our way to the elevator.

"I'll start the tour with your office," he announced as he punched the number four button on the elevator.

"So what's your name?" Tony questioned while trying to start conversation.

"Em-Rochelle."

Shit! I can't believe I almost slipped and mentioned my actual name!

"Rochelle, that's cute." He muttered quietly but I could still hear him.

The elevator door opened to reveal a modern setting of an office on the floor. I followed Tony down the floor but I couldn't notice any offices there, it felt more like a hallway.

I hope he isn't trying to get me alone to take advantage of me? I suddenly got security conscious.

"Here." He pointed at a point where another sliding glass automatic door was located with the company logo and name.

This whole office is in a different league of it's own. So the trip from the elevator to this place was practically like a hallway.

After the door was a black semi long table which had a chair at the other side, a bunch of papers and a telephone at the extreme end of the desk.

"You are free to customize your office the way you want to and here," pointing at the door past my work section. "This is Mister Castriel's office."

"So it's only just us on this floor?" I questioned and he nodded.

That's great! At least now I can try to seduce him without anyone noticing. This should be fun.

"The next place we will go is the workshop part of our company." Tony explained and I nodded.

**
