“Sorry?” I say, turning back from the door to look at Professor Duncan over my shoulder, not sure I heard him right.

“Your familiar test.” He puts the pen down on his desk and leans back, crossing his arms.

“But I’m not in familiar classes.”

“No, but you have a familiar now, and we must test the bond between you.” Duncan raises his eyebrows, making his hawkish nose look larger. “And don’t do any magic on him. This has to be a natural occurrence between you both.”
