Chapter 4 Premonition

Chapter 4 Premonition

~Dominic stood up and stretched. The book he had been reading was now closed. A few cricks were heard in the hallway as he twisted his body from side to side.

'I still cannot fanthom the thought of feeling pain like a normal human.' He muttered under his breath.

He walked towards the window and gazed outside. The large beautiful compound shone in symphony with the beauty of the crescent moon. He shifted his gaze upwards at the moon and a smile appeared on his red lips. Three months had passed since that very day. He felt satisfied knowing that the werewolves were now disoriented. Their supposed chosen one was now dead. But his work was halfway done. The teenage girl needed to be disposed of too. And then, only then, will the mention of his name strike fear into all living beings.

The sound of footsteps alerted him and he spun around. He raised his brows as he saw a shadow under his door.

'Who's there?' He called.

The shadow disappeared and the sound of footsteps away from the door. He narrowed his eyes and sped towards the door. He opened it and peered out. No one was there. The hallway was empty, illuminated by the lights above. He glanced to his right. No one there. He then turned to the left and jolted.

The sillouhette of a being was clear in the dark end. Dominic felt dread wash through him as he saw two golden little orbs appeared on the head of the being. Obviously, they were eyes.

'Who are you?' Dominic said, his voice shaky. He walked towards the figure but to his surprise, it vanished in the shadows. Before he could process the occurrence, sudden laughter filled the hallway. Dominic blanched and looked around. The laughter increased and the sound bounced off the walls. The sound of the laughter was eerily punctuated with animalistic growls.

'Who are you?!' He asked again. 'Show yourself this minute!'

Suddenly, he felt a hot breath at the back of his neck. He knew the figure was behind him.

'Your downfall draws near.' A deadly voice whispered in his ear.

Reacting quickly, he spun around and his red eyes met the golden animalistic ones of the figure. Dominic finally saw it closely. The figure was dressed in black from head to toe with a cloak hiding it's face, but it's eyes still glowed from within. Dominic's eyes widened as it raised it's hand revealing a long wooden stake.

Before Dominic could react, it stabbed him right in the heart.....~

Dominic woke up with a start. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and looked around. He was still in his bed and alone. There was no one there with him. He put a hand over his heart in relief. It was all a dream. He examined his fingers which were damp with sweat and a frown crossed his face. That was not normal. Vampires did not sweat. Their low body temperature prevented that. He got off the bed and drew the curtain open by the window. Staring at the moon, anger and dread filled him as he came to a conclusion.

That wasn't just a dream.

It was a premonition.

*************

Jeremy stood in front of the familiar gravestone with a solemn look. A month had passed since he came there last. But it felt like yesterday. Today was a three month anniversary. He looked around the grave yard. Some of the stones there were decorated with mould showing how old they were while some looked flawless. He clenched his fist. It was funny how a large stone polished to look perfect was mounted above a rotten corpse devoid of a soul.

"Hey, man." Jeremy turned his attention to the gravestone in front of him. "It's been a while. I really want to say things are going alright with me but you know I would be lying."

He chuckled momentarily as his eyes watered a bit.

"It's been a quarter of a year and I don't even know of I'm moving forward or backward." He continued. "Everything still feels like a dream. You don't know how many times I wake up hoping to see a pebble collide against my window. As annoying as I found it before, I really long for it now. Fate has chosen to punish me in ways I cannot imagine. The bastard who took you away has suddenly gone into hiding. I'm sure he's probably scheming some sort of psychological attack. It's kind of annoying as there's nothing I can do about it. I'm the so called chosen Alpha and I don't even have a pack. Everything is so messed up right now. God, I must really sound like a dork right now. It hurts so bad..."

"Jeremy?"

Jeremy blinked the tears that threatened to flow away at the sound of his name. He glanced to the side and spotted Mandy walking towards him.

"Hey." He forced a smile to his face as she put an arm around his waist.

"Figures you'll be here." She said.

He grunted a reply, putting his arm around her shoulder and drawing her closer. Silence filled the graveyard as the couple stared at the grave. Mandy relished the warmth of his body while he enjoyed the scent coming from her recently washed hair.

"How do you feel?" She asked, her eyes not leaving the gravestone.

"Okay now, I guess." He replied.

She pulled back a bit and stared at him straight in the eyes.

"How do you ' really' feel? " She asked again, her eyes now reflecting a deep meaning to her question.

Jeremy sighed and faced the gravestone. A surge of a negative emotion filled him.

"Like tearing something apart." He growled.

"Or someone." His eyes glowed a dangerous gold.
