For the first time, Dave and Maggie held hands and walked like a couple. They walked in the direction of his apartment. Once at the door, he stepped aside. "You may go in," he said while pushing the door so she could walk in.

Maggie was all smiles when she walked in. She was experiencing true happiness, maybe, for the first time in her life. 

Sadly, the little happiness she felt may not last. She was aware that Kyle wouldn't back off without pulling a string.
