After the blackout, the city was still in shock. What began as a minor annoyance swiftly turned into something much more disruptive. Normally shining lights of progress, skyscrapers were now darkened silhouettes against a grey sky. The streets were cautiously traversed by residents, whose movements were characterised by annoyance and discomfort.

The blackout was being attributed to a technical malfunction—a problem with the power grid that had not yet been fixed—in the human world. The truth, however, was catching on like wildfire in supernatural circles: the attack was planned, and the consequences were grave.
