When Lucas ran after me to the parking lot after I had stormed out of the house that day, the tension from the altercation with Edith was still present. As he trudged after me, Aiden's small boots scuffed the floor and his hand was securely in mine. Edith's scathing remarks kept playing over and over in my mind.

"Are you alright?" The silence was broken by Lucas's question.

I looked at him, not knowing how to respond. Even though Lucas had been surprisingly friendly, it felt weird to be so close.

I forced a tiny smile and finally said, "I am fine."
