Author's Point of view
It was a really calm night. The air held a dense, unnatural silence that pressed down like a smothering force on the Steele Pack's land. There were none of the night's typical sounds, such as distant howling or the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

The earth trembled as flames burst from one of the outer storage containers close to the packhouse fence, breaking the stillness. The air was heavy with the pungent smell of fuel and wood burning.
