I was losing control of the power and Edith had made it clear to me she is not ready to help as she herself has been lying low for a while since her matter had been tabled by Marcus. The way others looked at me differently now made me feel as if she were an afterthought rather than a Luna of the future. I could feel it in the sidelong glances that were swiftly averted, in the whispers at pack gatherings, and in the intentional pauses whenever I entered a room.
