The car drove into the big building, Oliver came down to open the door for Kate

She came out, her legs glued to the ground by fear.

She thought about what Susette had told her about his parents earlier and wondered if they are harsh like Oliver

Oliver took her hand and led her through the building as maids and securities greeted him with bows.

Oliver entered the living room and saw his parents already seated at the dining table

“Oliver,” his mother said

she stood up and hugged him in a loving way

“Mom, Dad,” he said

“you are right on time for lunch, come join us, his father said

As he sits on the dining stool with Kate

“so who's your friend, his father asked making Kate's mind skip back.

Kate looks at his father, he has dark eyes like his son

“Dad, this is my girlfriend Kate,” Oliver says

Kate was gobsmacked at Oliver's response, but she just has to play along, she wouldn't want to get to his bad side.

“Good afternoon ma, good afternoon sir, she greeted both Oliver's parents.

Oliver's parents choked on their food, hearing Oliver introduce Kate as his girlfriend

They never thought he was serious about him having a girlfriend

“What do you mean, Oliver's mother asked, already boiling in rage.

Oliver looked at his mother not wanting to answer her question because he knew she would just worsen it.

“Oliver, why did you bring her here?” His father asked looking at her sternly.

Kate felt like an idiot, his parents were expecting her to be someone other than his girlfriend.

“I brought her here because she's the woman I want to make my wife and I love her, Oliver answer, not looking at Kate or his parents.

He sounds sincere, and his word felt like it was real, but Kate knew he was pretending, but why will he lie to his parents and tell them something she is not?

“What happen to Yvonne, his father asked staring daggers at him, you could see the total replica of Oliver on his father's face.

Oliver angered stir at the mention of Yvonne's name

Oliver is angry, now he was completely furious.

Kate could see the anger radiating from his body and wanted to leave their conversation

“I don't love that whore, you said I should bring the woman I love, and here she is, so stops talking about Yvonne, Oliver yelled at his parents angrily

“You are going to marry Yvonne whether you like it or not, his mother yelled back at him.

“Did you think about the gang before going against our others, his father asked coldly.

Oliver looked at his father then at his mother, and then he looks at Kate.

“No, he replied firmly

"There's no way I'm going to allow you to marry this cheap piece of shit,” Oliver's mom said, glaring at Kate and then looking at her husband.

Kate was taken aback by the sudden outburst, Oliver's mother was being rude to her.

“Don't talk about her like that,” Oliver said getting up from his seat

“I'm speaking the truth, she is not fit to be in the family, she doesn't deserve you or anyone else.” Oliver's mother shouted back

Kate felt offended by Oliver mother's words, she doesn't deserve all this insult, all this was Oliver's fault.

“Let's go, Oliver said standing up while Kate follow suit

They entered the car and zoomed off

The ride home was silent, Oliver was fuming with anger, and he was still angry at his family, especially his father and mother, the fact that Kate was also a victim didn't help

“Kate, Oliver called

“yes, she replied without looking at him

“Are you okay,” he finally asks

“yea, I am fine,” she said trying to sound convincing

He couldn't believe how cold she seemed to be

“I'm sorry about my parents, he apologizes

Apologizing is something that Oliver found difficult, but here he is apologizing to Kate

“You've done worst to me, she said lightly

“I can't let you go, Katie, you are mine and

“And I hate you, Kate said, cutting Oliver off

Oliver opened his mouth to speak, but Kate cut him off again

“I hate you so much Oliver, for every hurt you've inflicted on me, I hate you, and even if it takes ten years, I'll never forgive you, I hope that one day you're dead,” Kate finished

Oliver was shocked, he wasn't expecting Kate to say that

“Katie,” he whispered softly

Kate looked straight ahead, she cried out in pain

Oliver remains silent and lets her cry her eyes out.

Immediately they got to Oliver's mansion, Kate came out of the car and ran inside the house, ignoring Oliver's calls. She climbed the stairs and got to her room, quickly locking herself in, she sat on the edge of the bed letting tears escape her eyes.

The sound of a knock at her door made her flinch. She didn’t move, though.

“Miss Kate, I'm the one, she heard Susette's voice. She thought It was Oliver knocking on the door, but it seems she was mistaken.

“What do you want, she asked Susette immediately after she opens the door.

“Wanna talk about it, wanna talk about what happened in Austin's mansion?” Susette asked, moving closer to Kate who looked like she wanted to cry again.

“Come in, she gestures Susette tycome in and closed the door.

“So, tell me what happened,” Susette said sitting down on the bed, Kate just stayed standing.

Kate took a deep breath and then finally spoke,

“Oliver's parents were rude to me and called me awful names, they are far worse than what you describe them to be yesterday, Kate said.

“I won't forgive Oliver's mother for insulting me. Kate added.

“That's so mean of them to have done that,” Susette sighed, “do you know why they did it?”

“I don't know," Kate said,

“Kate I'm going, to be honest with you, Oliver's parents are the top fearful mafia boss, they will do anything for money and their only goal is power and control. And that's why they want Oliver to marry Yvonne Anderson, for more power and fame,

Susette said, placing a hand on Kate's shoulder.

“How is that my business, I don't care about any of their business, Kate said angrily.

“He doesn't love Yvonne and to escape marrying her, he needs to marry you, that is his plan, Susette explained.

Kate shook her head and stood up,

“I don't believe a word you're saying Susette, I am no one's puppet” she yelled.

“You need to marry the boss, Susette said with all seriousness, making Kate glare at her suspiciously. Did Oliver send Susette to persuade her?

“Wait…why are you telling me all this, are you asking me to marry that monster, what are you not telling me, Kate asked Susette as she gulped hard and avoided eye contact with Kate.

“No…"Susette whispered.

“Well, you better say something, Did Oliver ask you to persuade me, answer me now,” Kate threatened.

“Please… he didn't send me here, but….” Yvonne trailed off, Kate looked at her curiously and waited for her to continue.

“I'm sorry, I need to go wash the dishes, Susette said, leaving Kate in a confused state.

Oliver POV

I wanted to see how Kate is doing after being treated by my parents in such a manner, I know she is hurt, but I don't see why I'm bothered about it.

I'm a mafia boss and my heart is cold like ice, but whenever I get close to Kate I always felt a strange feeling, I feel my heart twist.

I proceeded to Kate's room, but stopped when I heard the conversation between Kate and the maid.

I balled my fist angrily hearing how the maid describe my parents to Kate, how can a maid describe my parents in such a way?

I could hear Kate talking about how she would never be able to forgive my mother.

The maid also told her about Yvonne, how did she know about my parents forcing me to marry Yvonne? I could feel my blood boil.

After hearing everything I couldn't listen to their conversation anymore, I left and headed toward the kitchen.

As soon as I arrived in the kitchen, I open the fridge and pick up a bottle of chilled water.

I sat down behind the table and opened the bottle. I take a few sips.

I placed my elbows on the table and held my head between my hands, I let out an exasperated sigh.

Just then the maid walked in, as soon as she noticed me she turned to leave, but I stopped her.

She entered the kitchen fully, her body was tensed and shocked fearfully.

“Why did you tell Kate false things about my parents ?” I said calmly with anger in my voice.

“I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking clearly when I said those things,” The maid replied nervously.

I stand up from my chair and walk towards her, I placed a hand on her shoulders and stared into her eyes.

“Your days in my house are numbered, I said. She quickly knelt, begging me.

“Please boss, I'm sorry, I was just concerned about miss Kate, she said, but I scoffed and left her there.

I couldn't sleep, I needed to clear my head, I walked down the stairs to the living room.

I proceeded to the drink cabinet in the corner and started pouring myself some whiskey.

It was almost midnight and I decided it was time to leave.

But the light in the kitchen caught my attention, why was the light switch on?

I walked to the kitchen to switch off the lights, when I entered the kitchen, I heard soft groans coming from the kitchen counter. I approached the counter and saw Kate lying on the ground in the pull of her blood, groaning in pain as I became aware of the knife embedded into her thigh.
