When I received the two-word text message from my father saying: [HOME. TODAY], I stared at it for minutes, gritting my teeth and expecting the text to turn into something else. It did not.

I didn’t have to get there to know it. This summon had everything to do with what I saw during pack time. Sireen was feeding my parents with what I’m sure was what they wanted to talk to me about. Whatever her game plan is, it rattles me in ways words can’t express, but if my parents summoned me, I had to be there.
