Chapter 5 The Visit of the Devil

Chapter 5 The Visit of the Devil

"I'm full!"

Putting down the bowl and chopsticks, Hazel left the dining table quickly, shutting the room door with a big sound of "bang"! The sound echoed in the hall for a long time...

Hazel had no time worrying about what those people out there think. She laid on the bed, feeling exhausted. Thinking that Flora would send her money each month, Hazel's heart was somewhat balanced.

After a good night's sleep, Hazel was awakened by the ringing of her phone.

"Hazel! Didn't you say you were going to treat me a dinner?! Damn, I've been waiting for you for hours!"

Summer was still so reckless over the phone, which made Hazel somewhat unbearable. Looking at the clock, Hazel said calmly, "We'll see you at Harp/Jinse Café on Huayang Road in an hour !"

As she came downstairs, Flora and Betty were sitting in the hall chatting. Betty seemed to have cracked some jokes, entertaining Flora a lot and keeping her laughing.

"Are you going out?" Betty noticed Hazel first and hurriedly stood up.

"Hazel, City A has changed a lot. You just came back and you may be not very familiar with it. Do you need me to accompany you out?" Betty said gently.

Not familiar? So what? Even if she just came back, she still got her own friends?

Hazel took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Oh, unsprisingly, Flora was provoked by Betty's words.

Flora's smile gradually disappeared, looking at Hazel with her brows frowned: "Where are you going to hang out? Can't you just stay at home?!"

Hazel pouted and walked straight out: "Going to date with my friends!"

"Stop there!" Flora walked to the front of Hazel within three or two steps, glaring at her with a pretentious pout, "You just returned to City A, why did you have friends here?"

"None of your business." Hazel frowned and replied impatiently. Her dear mother has ignored her for twelve years. Wouldn’t it be too late for her to discipline her and intervene in her life?

"Hazel!" Flora was totally angered by Hazel’s words.

Betty took Flora's arm, looking at Hazel and said, "Hazel, it just all for your own good..."

Well! What a reasonable girl!

if she didn’t sow discord here, why would mom pit against her like this? What Hazel disgusted at Betty the most was her hypocrisy. After seeing Betty acting hypocritical again, Hazel was irritated immediately: "I don't want to talk to you! Anything else to say?!" The last sentence was addressed to Flora.

Flora was getting totally mad. She pointed at Hazel with her fingers trembling, "What’s that attitude? Apologize to Betty! Now!"

Betty held Flora to sit down and patted her back gently: "Mommy, don't be angry, Hazel is just playing with me."

Hazel was not supposed to annoy Flora, but she wouldn't wrong herself either: "Bye then!"

"A important guest will visit us tonight, you must came back then!" Flora roared angrily.

Now, Hazel made it clear that Flora was not worrying about her safety but she may offend the guest for being absent.

"Don't worry. I'll be back on time!" Hazel sneered with a glint of mockery on her face. Then, she turned around and stepped outside.

Betty's voice rose again behind her: "Hazel, do you need a driver?"

Hazel didn't answer Betty but slammed the door and left.

"How I gave birth to such a daughter?" Flora stroked her forehead with her unsteady breath. Then, she turned to hold Betty's hand: "Betty, you have been wronged. When she comes back, I will make her apologize to you."

Betty shook her head and said, "Mommy, it doesn’t matter. We are a family. Hazel has a small temper, don't follow her~ Some time ago I saw you were not feeling well, so I simmered some chicken soup for you. Now it might be ready. Let me bring one for you to drink."

Looking after Betty's slim body, Flora couldn't help feeling upset. She secretly thought that it would be nice if Hazel was half as sensible as Betty.

"Hey! Here!" Once Hazel walked in, she heard Summer's loud voice. Turning to the waiter and smiled with guilt, Hazel then walked to Summer.

Summer was so excited that she couldn't sit still for a long time. Seeing Hazel approached, Summer stood up and gave her an affectionate bear hug!

Although Hazel was a little bit bored with such a bear hug, the familiar aroma from Summer and her enthusiasm all made Hazel reluctant to push Summer away!

"Hazel, you little bitchy! I miss you so much! ..." Summer desperately hugged Hazel and called her name again, again, and again by her ear.

Hazel smiled tenderly with her heart warmed by Summer. Hazel and Summer are college classmates and roommates. They have lived together for four years, and Summer was the one who gave her the most beautiful and warm memories in the world!

There may be someone in your life, who sometimes scold you, grab your favorite snacks, wake you up in the mid night for chatting, and always show a look of disgust to you. You may thus feel how annoying he or she is!

However, when you are sick, she will not hesitate to go through the rainstorm only to buy medicine for you; when you are in a bad mood and refuse to eat, she will drag you outside to treat you a big meal; when you are bullied, she will and always stand up for you; when you are lonely, she is the one who always stands by your side... This is Summer! She is the only true friend in Hazel's life!

"Err… that’s disgusting. Summer, can you shut up?!" After Hazel hugged Summer, she then pushed her away. Seeing that everyone around was looking at them, she smiled awkwardly.

"You’re gross, huh!" Summer glared at Hazel. She originally thought that she had not seen Hazel for so long, and wanted to be gentle with her, but did not expect that Hazel would refuse her so badly.

Hazel glared at the Summer. Stupid birdy!

"Hazel, you have to treat me to a big meal today! Haha..."

Jinse Café on Huayang Road is a high-end coffee shop. For fresh graduates like them, it's so fancy here! Desserts and ice cream here are all terribly expensive! It is said that having one afternoon tea here could cost all you got from one-month hard working!

"It’s up to you!" Hazel said casually.

Since graduating, she has earned a lot, therefore, treating Summer a meal here won’t be a problem. But Hazel knows Summer too well. Even though Summer always asks Hazel to treat at her words, it’s just lip service. In fact, Summer always helps save her money.

"Hazel, where have you been last night? Where do you live now? You'd better get it from the real deal!"

After ordering, Summer narrowed her eyes and scanning Hazel’s face.

Feeling embarrassed, Hazel turned red. She didn't know how to answer.

"Is this question difficult to answer?"

Summer sensitively captured one sign of complex look in Hazel's eyes, and suddenly became curious! Something that can make Hazel feel complicated? That must be a big deal!

"Have to answer it?" Hazel asked tentatively.

"Yes!" Summer said firmly!

"How about I treat you to another cup of Cappuccino?" Hazel tried to persuade Summer to stop asking about it.

Summer looked at Hazel with her radiant eyes, thinking about what she’d said. For a while, Summer finally said, "Okay!"

Hazel breathed a sigh of relief. Then, the waiter came, serving food for them.

"But you have to say where you live now. Is that OK?"

Summer took a bite of the ice cream in front of her and asked while eating.

They then exchanged addresses. Summer didn't even look at it, just stuffed the note with Hazel's address on it into her bag, and then focused on the food again.

"You are such a foodie!"

Hazel couldn't help but scolded. Summer replied her with her eyes heavenward.

These two young ladies were eating and chatting, talking about those interesting things from the past. Their laughter also became a unique site in this café. After more than two hours, they finished the meal and came out of the café.

"Hey! Hazel, since we will all settle in City A, you must come out to play with me much more frequently!" Summer shook Hazel's arm, pursing her red lips, looking cute and pitiful.

"Summer, you silly, please behave normally!" Hazel growled.

Hazel’s reaction made Summer burst out laughing.

When they about to part, Summer suddenly cease her smile and looked at Hazel solemnly: "Hazel, do not let others bully you, or I'll exploit them! Understand?!"

Hazel felt a hint of warmth inside, but she still pretended to be distained Summer and said, "How violent you are!"

Summer raised her eyebrows proudly and then waved goodbye to Hazel. Looking after Summer, a spirl of comfort feelings arouse in Hazel's heart. She is truly blessed to have such a close friend!
