Chapter 3 The Inducement

Chapter 3 The Inducement

"I will never let you off," Hazel said in a slight voice but in a heavy tone, which revealed her firm determination and dedication.

Bianca turned her head and for the first time set eyes on Hazel. She was stunned by the coldness in Haze's eyes! Bianca suddenly realized that Hazel was not that girl to be trifled with!

"Listen, chick, here’s a suggestion for you: give up, accept the situation you’ve already been in. I’ve shown enough respect for you. Take your money and leave. Blowing up the affair is not a good idea. Besides, if it weren’t for you, we would have caught that girl yesterday afternoon. I haven't got it even with you!" Bianca curled her lips in annoyance and said disdainfully.

Yesterday afternoon? Got that chick?

"What do you mean?!"

Hazel glared at Bianca angrily. According to what she just said, they’d knew that they arrested the wrong people, but they still sent her to the bed of a stranger?

"Just like what you’ve heard!" Bianca raised her eyebrows and looked at Hazel smugly.

Suddenly, Hazel laughed, "Ha! Who’s your backer?", then she burst out a smile with a slightly angry look, turning her face pink and making her more graceful and beautiful.

Usually, the angrier Hazel is, the calmer she will be.

Bianca drifted away for a few seconds and thought, maybe Hazel has accepted it. Then, Bianca took out her business card from her pocket and put it on the table: "Welcome, at any time!" She has hinted quite clearly!

Hazel frowned and pointed at the door, saying, "Get out of here!"

Bianca snorted coldly, twisted her butt, stepped on high heels, and left.

Hazel hung up lip jeer and vowed to herself: one day… one day I’ll destroy this nightclub.

She attempted to get off the bed, but she was so weak that she fell to the ground. Her legs were too much numb and bruises spread through all her body. And it was burning down there! Temper frayed again!

That man is a beast!

Hazel staggered to the bathroom and took a wash. As she came out, she found her suitcase and bag.

Thinking of Summer, Hazel held her forehead and then took out her phone to turn it on...

Sure enough, she missed more than a hundred calls, all from Summer. When Hazel was about to call back, the phone rang again.

"Summer..."

Only has Hazel called out a name, the other side started to yell wildly: "What the hell are you doing, Hazel? You shut your phone down all night! Do you know how worried I am?! I've been looking for you the whole night! Even... whatever, Hazel, I don't care, you have to compensate me!"

Hazel sighed, comforted Summer for a while, and was about to go downstairs. Suddenly, she stepped on something weird on the ground.

She crouched down and picked up a necklace, the pendant of which was a milky white cobblestone in the shape of a pear flower. It was so gorgeous. It might belong to the man. No more thinking about it, Hazel stuffed the necklace into her pocket and left.

Standing in front of the posh hotel, Hazel felt that what she’d been through was just like a nightmare. But the soreness throughout her body implied that it was not a dream!

Turning back, Hazel took a deep breath. It's time to go home! But, will anyone in the family expect her to go back? His hate-filled eyes and that yelling which forced her to go away were still clearly imprinted in her memory. Until now, she still hadn’t figured out why they hate her so much and even abandon her! Just because of their broken marriage? She did not buy it!

Hazel grabbed a taxi and left. But she didn't notice that, just as she got on the taxi, one luxury sedan parked simultaneously. The man who offended her last night got off the car, walking into the hotel with a little eagerness.

After a twelve-year absence, Hazel was back at her home. Sitting in the living room, Hazel felt that she’d been through an age.

On the opposite were Hazel’s parents. Her father Kevin pulled a long face while her mother Flora frowned.

Twelve years passed. Kevin's temples had turned gray, but you could still vaguely see the once domineering younger him who had a bright future! After the baptism of time, Flora was still just like the way she was in her youth, stunning, gorgeous but indifferent.

Hazel was sitting with her head down. This is the first time in twelve years for they three to reunite again. But it was quite dull and awkward here. No one tried to break the deadlock until...

"Hazel, are you thirsty?" Betty broke the weird peace, "This is the 'Timbula tea' from the Ceylon Highlands. It tastes nice, pure, and refreshing. This is also mom's favorite tea. Have a try." Betty handed a cup of tea carefully to Hazel, looking at her with a big smile.

Hazel looked up, staring at her mom Flora, who gave her a complicated look.

"Mom, when did you give birth to a sister?" Hazel asked in a peaceful voice. The way she called her mother was so familiar that as if she had never left. Hearing Hazel's tone, Flora breathed a sigh of relief, and put a smile on her face: "You silly? This is your sister, Betty. Since the housekeeper died, I have recognized her as my foster daughter already."

Hearing these, Kevin's tense body also released slightly.

"Oh! I see. Foster… (pause) daughter!" Hazel deliberately addressed the word 'foster'. She’d never forgotten Betty at all. When she was kicked out by parents, the thirteen-year-old Betty was hiding behind a tree, seeing everything and peeking with a proud face!

Now, Betty smiled warmly, pretending to haven’t heard the sign of sarcasm in Hazel's tone. She sat beside Flora, took her arm, and said, "Hazel, mom missed you so much these years, that’s why she recognized me as daughter. Now you are back, mom may finally happy."

Pretending to be tolerant and kind?

Ha! Saying these, Betty showed nothing but her kindness and generosity, making Hazel seemed like a small-minded person.

"Sorry. I don't know how to appreciate the tea but want to quench my thirst now. I’d prefer plain pure water. " Hazel leaned back a bit and laid on the sofa.

Betty smiled guiltily and said: "My bad, I was only thinking about giving the best to Hazel, but forgot she may not be used to it. Hazel, wait for a few seconds, I'll change that for you."

Oh! Girl! How obedient!

Flora held Betty with a satisfied look. Then she glared at Hazel and said, "Don't worry about her. She can pour one for herself. She's become stubborn again!"

Uh… stubborn? Well. Hazel raised eyebrows and shrugged shoulders, holding a disdainful look on her face.

"You must be tired. Go wash up first." Kevin, who had kept his mouth shut for a long time, suddenly spoke and changed the subject.

Hazel didn't want to initiate anything and thus nodded.

Rising hurriedly, Betty carried the luggage for Hazel and said: "Hazel, you will live in your previous room, right? I’ve moved out last night, and helped you clean it up. You can enjoy your room now."

Hazel stopped and looked at Betty.

Guilt was written all over Betty's face, "Hazel, your room is the closest to the hall, so I stayed in it for some time. I moved out immediately once knowing that you’d be back from a business trip last night. You won't blame me, right?"

Well… Oscar surely owned her a "Best Actress Oscar"! Hazel thought, if I got no idea about what kind of person she is, I would have been touched by her words.

In Hazel’s home, spare bedrooms were in total contrast to the main ones. There are three master bedrooms, while the rest are all guest rooms. Even though fully furnished, those are still rooms for "guests" after all!

What an obedient girl! The real daughter has come back, and the humble and kind goddaughter gave up "her" main bedroom, only to show humility. Good girl… no fight nor rob, and not even envies Hazel at all! Good for her! At such a moment, usually, any polite girl would have immediately expressed her gratitude and that she wouldn’t blame Hazel. Nevertheless, Hazel didn’t.

Betty had taken her home, her parents, and her room. How could she be grateful for such a hypocritical person? Hazel couldn’t and won’t do that!

"Sorry, I got mysophobia!"
