At the sound of Hazel's voice, Leo paused in his work and then slowly raised his head. He put down his pen and leaned back in his sofa chair, hugging his knees and looking at Hazel with interest, his deep, cold, sharp eyes seeming to see into Hazel's innermost recesses.

"Sober?" His voice rose slightly, with a hint of pleasure.

Hazel shivered. At the tone of his voice, why did she think he was gloating a little? Never mind, she had never been able to guess what he meant. So Hazel cleared her throat with an air of indifference, "It's okay!"
