When Jisung looked back on the day their agency announced the location and time they would shoot for the reel, he had a moment of questioning his life choice. Never had he thought that they would film in an abandoned school. When their agency announced, Jisung and Dongmin could not hide their shock. When they looked at each other, they knew they had the same thought.
The moment the top two cowards went in to their car, the others realized that they were so quiet. Until they fell asleep in the car, the member then began to think that they might have slept less than they were.
Their first schedule was to attend a variety show to promote their upcoming comeback at a broadcasting center. It took an hour to finish the shoot. There was no deep question to ask the boys, more likely relating to the next album though. Next schedule was jacket photoshoot. Then, they were allowed to take a break and stand by from 8 in the morning to 2 in the evening. After that, they had to attend a formal television show interview and finally, at 5 in the evening, they departed from Seoul for the reel filming.
While the rest took the three hours ride a chance to nap, Dongmin stayed awake. Like some members, his mind thought of scary events that could take place in an abandoned school. He could not hide his distasteful expression. Their road manager, Ahn Woosang, made a glance at the back view mirror and noticed Dongmin.
“Are you okay?” Manager Ahn asked. Dongmin made an eye contact with him through the mirror. “You look like you have something rotten in your stomach.”
Dongmin sighed, “might be lesser than that. I’m having tension in my stomach.”
The road manager’s eyes began to scan the sign boards that stood at the edge of the road. “Do you want to stop by at a gas station nearby?”
“It’s fine.
Manager Ahn deeply hummed. He then asked, “is something bothering you?”
Dongmin shrugged with a bitter smile on his face. “Sort of.”
“What’s in your mind?”
Dongmin buzzed. “I don’t think filming our reel at an abandoned school is a good idea.”
“You filmed in an abandoned school before though.”
“That’s a different story, hyung. That school the planners chose wasn’t abandoned for more than a year that time. The furniture there were still in progress to be moved out too.”
Manager Ahn chuckled. “How do you know the school this time is abandoned more than that?”
“I searched on internet.”
Manager Ahn chuckled again. “Relax, Dongmin. You won’t be there alone.”
Dongmin sighed, “I know.”
“Chin up! I’m sure you want to show something good for your fans.”
Thinking of SWU, Dongmin tried his best to brace his fear from the scary thoughts he had in mind. Although it might sound like he was pushing himself, but to him, nothing was better than showing his fans that he had improved a lot in many aspects. The thought of knowing he would make his fans proud was a matter that meant a lot to him.
The journey to the location became quieter. Dongmin fell asleep with the soft playlist he played through his earpieces when they were an hour away from the location.
After an hour passed, they arrived at the location. The rest woke up to the loud creak of the brake. One by one took their time to gain consciousness.
The youngest member gained his conscious quicker than other. He made a glance at the school. His mouth opened ajar before he said, “damn, this school is huge!”
Dongmin nonchalantly uttered, “for a building that has been abandoned for ten years, you sound amazed.”
“Look at that, perfect structure. Whoever built this school wasted his money and effort for nothing.”
Chanwook, who had been frozen on his seat after seeing the school, butted in, “not all perfect structured building is good in the eyes, especially for me.” He gulped his saliva. “I have a bad feeling about this.”
The group’s leader snorted at the quietest member. “We’re going to be fine, hyung. Relax.”
But Chanwook could not relax. The uneasiness stuck in him as if it was smudge with hot glue. All of them hopped off the van when their stylists called to get changed into their costumes and groomed.
While Sky’s hair was styled, there was one thing that had him feeling bothered. He felt like he was being watched. When his stylist put down an item on the makeup case, Sky took the chance to observe the surrounding on his seat. No one was watching them and he could not find himself to shrug off the feeling easily. The uneasiness stuck like it was forever.
It had been three years since their debut, but this was the first time he felt an extreme uneasiness. The feeling was worse than encounter sasaeng* fans. Sky told himself to calm down nonetheless. He was not one of the timid, but maybe he was, especially at a time like this.
Sky grabbed a cookie from a container, leaned back and crossed his legs. He then took out his phone from his jeans’ pockets, going into a social media application in hoping he could divert his mind by reading and watching funny clips about the members – exclude himself – that SWUs had compiled and posted.
He was chuckling at a clip of Chanwook when he accidentally pressed the lock button. The screen darkened which had him sighing. He fixed his sitting position with his phone still on the eye level when he saw an unfamiliar silhouette appeared behind him through the dark phone’s screen. He was shocked. He immediately turned his head back to see who, but no one was behind except a light stand and concrete wall. Two staff were outside the building, talking.
Sky became more uncomfortable. He tilted his head once, in denial.
He thought he saw a female standing behind him, but no one?
That building was creepy.
