48. Vacation Before the Farewell

Alexander walked over to Arnold and Jennifer, his eyes fixated on Jennifer, who was in tears. His facial expression was one of curiosity.

"Darling, why are you crying? Arnold, why is Jennifer crying?" he asked. Alexander sat down next to Jennifer and gently cupped his wife's face with both hands, slowly wiping away the tears that had dampened her cheeks.

Jennifer remained silent, unable to find words or reasons. Her mind felt blank, unable to think.

Alexander alternated his gaze between Jennifer and Arnold, waiting for an answer.
