Chapter 6...
“ I don't think I can have such a employee as a worker in my company, Cade spoke.
Delaney's eyes widen, and she could hear her heartbeat increase, was he going to fire her, she thought.
“All I wanted to do was to help your ass, but what did I get in return huh, insults?
“I wanted to give you a ride, but what did I get in return, insult?? Cade said, staring at her.
Delaney couldn't find herself to speak, she just stood there dumbfounded, Cade wanted to give her a ride to work, she never knew he was the one.
She wouldn't have called him stupid, she wouldn't have called him a moron, she knew she was done for, and to the top, to it, she is dead late to work.
She's been having mood swings lately, not being able to tell how she felt, maybe it's because of the new life that she needs to adjust to.
“How can you be coming to work as your boss, cade asked.
“I got a flat tire, she forces herself to speak.
“Hop in, Cade said, She hopped into the car and buckled up as the driver started driving.
The silence between them was deafening. The only thing they heard was the engine running, she looked around at her surroundings, the neighborhood is nice and hushed.
They finally arrived and Delaney got out of the car and walked towards the entrance of the office.
“Thank you for giving me this lift,” She said softly thanking him, but Cade ignored her walking past her.
She could feel her body heat up, it was still morning, but she was sweating profusely, her armpit heat was raising, making it itch her.
***
Delaney entered the elevator, She took a deep breath before pressing the button to go up.
When the door opened, she walked out into the floor and headed straight towards her desk, and sat down.
The phone rang and Delaney picked up the receiver,
“Come to my office right now, Cade's voice came through the speaker.
Delaney's mind skipped, she immediately stood up from her desk and went to his office, she knocked on the door, and he opened it.
She could feel her face heating up again, this time it wasn't from the weather.
Cade motioned with his hand for her to enter, and she stepped inside, closing the door behind her.
He sat down behind his desk and Delaney stood there awkwardly, waiting for him to say something.
“I want a cup of coffee delivered here right away.” He ordered and Delaney nodded.
“Yes sir, I'll bring it right away sir.” Cade nodded, not looking at her.
“Make sure to bring it before a minute is up,” Cade added as Delaney was forced to stare at him, all she could see was a smirk.
Is this the type of punishment he is insinuating, how is she going to get the coffee In a minute?
“Tic, Tok, Tic, Tok, Cade's voice repeated while pointing at his wristwatch, his voice filling the office.
Delaney quickly left the office and made her way to the coffee machine. She waited until it finished brewing, then poured the cup.
She carried it over to Cade's office with slight nervousness.
As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw Cade sitting with his back against the wall, leaning forward slightly, his elbows resting on top of his desk.
“I don't like sluggish workers, Cade said. You brought the coffee late, and it's three minutes already, Cade's voice was cold, sending chills down Delaney's spine.
“Sir-”
“Didn't I warn you not to be late?”
He interrupted Delaney, she had a small nod.
“I'll expect more from you, Delaney,” Cade stood up from his seat and moved closer to her. Delaney felt the blood rushing to her cheeks, She could feel her body temperature rise again.
“I won't tolerate laziness in my company,” Cade whispered, his lips inches away from Delaney.
“Go get me another cup of coffee and make sure to bring it in a minute, he said, looking directly at Delaney's eyes with a grin.
Delaney knew Cade was enjoying every bit of this, he is punishing her.
Cade turned around and returned to his chair. Delaney ran off to the coffee machine,
Delaney made her way back to Cade's office, carrying another cup of coffee.
As Delaney approached Cade's s office, she placed the cup of coffee on his desk.
Cade took the cup and drank it.
Delaney backed up, she was about to walk out of Cade's office when his voice stopped her.
“Wait,” He said, looking at Delaney. She stopped and stood in front of Cade's desk, waiting for Cade to say something.
“My toilet is dirty, I need it to be clean, Cade said. Delaney sighed before speaking.
“Ok sir, I'll go call the cleaner, Delaney said turning to leave Cade's office, but he stopped her.
“What else do you have to ask me, sir?” Delaney replied, trying to keep her cool.
“Not the cleaner, I meant you, Laney, Cade ordered. Delaney didn't understand what he meant.
“I don't understand sir, she asked.
“I want you to wash my toilet, Cade dropped the bombshell. Delaney felt the blood rush to her face, why will he want her to wash his toilet while the cleaners are available?
“I'm sorry sir, but I can't, Delaney said, her voice cracking. She was tired already because how she ran to get his coffee.
“Why not?” Cade asked, his voice dripping with amusement. This is what he wanted.
“Well, because I'm not a cleaner, I'm your assistant Sir, she said. Cade smirked.
“That's right, Delaney, you're my assistance,” and that is why you will have to assist me in cleaning my toilet, he chuckled.
Delaney balled her fist angrily, though Cade didn't see it.
“But… She tried to speak, but Cade cut her shut.
“No, but Delaney, remember your promise to do anything I ask you to do without complaining, Cade reminds her.
“So why are you complaining, it's not up to twenty-four hours, and you are already complaining, Cade said.
Delaney knew he was punishing her, and he was deriving joy from doing so, if she complained he would punish her more.
If he wants her to wash his toilet, then she will have to do just that in other to keep her job.
“Are you having second thoughts about it, Cade's voice brought her back to reality.
“No sir, Delaney said immediately, she can't lose her job, not now, she has many responsibilities to handle.
“Make sure the floor and wall sparkle, and again, you have to wash it before twenty-five minutes… he spoke.
“Twenty-five minutes???? Delaney asked in disbelief.
How was she supposed to get it done in twenty-five minutes?
“Yes twenty-five minutes,” Cade smirked.
