I kept trying to excuse myself and my mother kept trying to keep me from staying here with Robert. I can't go on like this, I'll miss a lot of time if I have to stay here any longer.

Every time I make an excuse, my mother always refuses to let me continue to obey all her requests and rules to remain silent in the chair that I now occupy as my seat. I sat next to my mother, while Robert sat next to us, our position was at an angle to each other, not facing each other or across from each other.
