At night
As what I said, I’m still lives here in my apartment although a part of me telling that I made a wrong choice. For a reason, I don’t know and it bugs me.
I take a deep sighs and once again I feel that someone came at the terrace. I quickly check it and see if he comes back.
“Hi!” it was Nys.
I feel a bit disappointed but why? I slightly shake my head before asking her.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to be your friend.” She said with a smile.
A friend, with a half blood Vampire… uhm, it sounds interesting but somehow weird because I just a human.
“That’s quite weird.” I answered.
“What? Why?” she curiously asked then, “oh, it is because you’re a human, right?” I just nodded since she already knew my answer. “Oh, come on! We aren’t in an old age. No one can stop us if we became friends in this time of the year. We’re in a new millennium, remember? So please, stop thinking of anything and let us be friends. Okay?” she stated in a jolly tone and I couldn’t help it but to smile, I can even sense that she’s really a friendly person. A hard one to decline even you want to.
“Alright,” then sighs. “Friends.”
“Yes!” and surprisingly she hugs me tightly. “You’re my bessy now!” she exclaimed that made me laughed.
“Alright, alright!” I said and break out from her hug. “You may live now.”
“Ha! But why?”
“Come on, it’s late. So, just go home.”
“What do you think of me, a child?” she said pouting her lips.
“Of course not. It just that…”
“No worries, I won’t bite you.”
“I know. But…”
“No more ‘buts’.” She said. “I came here not just to ask you to be my friend but also to chat with you all night long. Okay?”
“Huh!”
“Uhm,” she nodded with a big smile.
Ah, what did she want? “Are you still scared?” Nys surprisingly asked.
“Of course not!” I quickly answered because that is the truth. I am not scared but the thing is, the information that I’ve got this day was too tiring not only for my mind but also to my body and soul. And all I wanted is to stay all alone in quiet and peace and just let myself get more rest before I finally understand everything that happened.
“Then, let’s talk and--” she was suddenly vanished out of my sight as if she was just blown away by the wind.
“Sorry for disturbing you.” I heard it once again, those cold and deep voice, it was Chisuke, and he was standing at the dark part of my terrace.
“Wh-where did you bring?”
“You don’t have to ask. Just go in and take a rest.”
I blink my eyes twice and this time I feel a bit sad because of the way he talks to me, but what can I do if that is his character. Or maybe, he really doesn’t like me… like me? What the hell am I thinking!
“Alright! You may go.” I said and I was about to go inside when he stops me.
“Wait.”
“Yes.”
“Next time, if you sense someone here, don’t go outside so quickly without checking if you knew who it is. Okay? Just be more cautious of your surroundings now that you have my mark.” He said before he left me in daze.
The next day, Friday
After class, Coleen invited me to eat with her in a Cake Shop at the District Three. At first, I wanted to decline her since that I still feel exhausted after all the things happened to me yesterday, but after thinking about it, it seems it will be better if I go to a new place to freshen up, which is why I am here together with her.
“I’m glad that you’re fine now.” Coleen said because I excuse myself yesterday and she was the one who took my classes yesterday.
“Yeah, of course! As you can see, I still come back to work after my cold was gone.”
“Uhm, alright then, may I ask about the guy that I heard over your phone? Who was he?”
Oh, I totally forgot! When I wake up yesterday morning, I got a call coming from her but since that I was at the bathroom washing my face it was Chisuke who answered it. Although, I took it quickly still, his voice has been heard.
“Oh, that…”
“Is he you’re…?”
My heart beats so fast, as she pauses and it give me lots of thriller as she hangs up on her question.
“Wh-what are you thinking?” I said and swallow to clear my throat.
“Landlord?”
“Huh!” oh, I forgot again, my landlord is a guy but gay guy and she knows it too although they never met personally.
“But you’ve told me that he is a gay, right?”
“Oh,” I laugh deliberately. “Of course! He’s a gay.”
“But his voice was too deep and cold. Kind of…”
“Come on! He’s on the phone and anyone can be deceived by just a voice.” I quickly stated.
“Oh, well, you were right! And I was deceived by that voice, well, if only he wasn’t a gay, maybe I already fall for him because of his voice.”
I just laugh on her comment and quickly change our topic.
Afterwards
I was walking home when I sense that someone was following me, at first I ignore it and think that it might be someone just like me, will go home after their work. But as time goes by, it never lives me the reason why I hurriedly walk fast but every quick step that I take, it speed up until I couldn’t take it anymore and run as fast as I can.
Until… “Ahhh!” I scream my heart out when, whoever that someone was, suddenly pops out at my front without warning.
… … …
